Why is it that when ever someonerecommends a pvp carbine its always a laser? Most people will have composite that has special protection against energy, but if you use acid or heat it would be a bit more effective. But thats just my opinion. As for templates what would be good I'm thinking Master TKA, Master Carbine, and dump rest either in medic or master brawler. Any thaughts or ideas (btw a electric carbine would be sweet :smileyhappy

vote for master carb+master doc as support...if you are MTKA then you won't be support anymore, you'll be the tank

Master Carbineer / Master Doctor is what I'm working towards now. How well does it fare as a support PvP template? And a PvE template?

My personal feeling is that MCarb+MDoc is the best combination for support. You get good damage capability and Doc skills, and with carb you do not need to be in the 'thick of the action' (as you would with the melee or pistol profs). I've only been playing PvE and it works very well. I've done a variety of missions with this template and have never been dissappointed...neither has the team.

Here is a link to a good post on this template:Carb Doc FAQ

Pardon me but almost all Comp Armor I have ever seen with Special Protection for Stun and Electricity has identical Energy, Acid, and Heat resists.....but nice try even though a base sliced suit has higher base than 80% special which is the exact opposite of what you are saying....

Your point on the Laser Carbine is correct but because of Mitigation, not armor resists.

In fact the DXR6 is the PvP Carbine of choice for punching through the Experimental PSG's that everybody has now.

My template to strickly add to Carbineer......4440 Fencer, 0044 Pistoleer,0100 Medic......and soon to be16 FS skill boxes

Laser Carbine isn't a good choice in PVP with its lower min damage vs ranged migration as well as armor and PSG- the DXR6 as said in about a billion other carbineer thread is mentioned the best choice next to the Elite because of their higher min damage.

About armor protection, most composite I see (and use) are either 80%kin/60-80%elec/55-60%eff/stun vuln or 60%kin/60%elec/23-40%stun/50-55%eff. The fun part of being a carbineer in PVP is to anticipate what type of damage you going to do with which gun, what fun.

I'm switching my doctor toon from pistoleer to carbineer since I'm enjoying carbineer with my ranger/carbineer toon and that pistoleer is broken in many bloody ways it isn't funny.

That armor is horrible.....mine is encumb sliced with 66% base, 80% elec, 37% stun.....and same stuff base sliced to around 82% base

I also have some 11% stun stuff but the base is the same as above.....

Keep in mind, however, that not everyone has Ranged Mitigation 3. Once you start PvPing frequently on your server, you'll know who the 'regulars' are, and will also know who has a Master Ranged profession, even if they appear to be melee-based, and who doesn't.

In these cases, I find my Laser Carbine works best (it is +70 tissues with a Form-fittedstock though), because of its AP2 capabilities. You can frequently hit for 800-900 damage per second with such a Carbine against anyone who doesn't have Ranged Mit. 3. And that's not something to shrug off.

It's the PSGs which are tricky to figure out..

And for PvP, I use: 80% elec., 40% stun, 70% base - effect. slices on all but the arm pieces, which are encumb.

/flex

Still, 3-4% in armor means nothing - it all boils down to the slices.

Well I find with BH mods, the DPS between a laser carbine, dxr-6, and elite carbine (all stocked and damaged sliced) is pretty close, even with damage mitigation III. Laser carbine has a slight edge actually (still against mitigation III) because of AP2, but the 2 others aren't far behind, and against a PSG, DXR-6 takes a huge lead. Now I dont know how this translates to non-stocked, speed sliced carbines, but Laser carbine probably won't be as good because a stock adds a good 60 min damage after 30% damage slice and 16% min damage powerup.

Oh my third suit of comp with min. 85% base, 80% elec, 11% stun with 89% base helmet is TONS AND TONS different than 70% base.....

But that's 85-90% base AFTER slicing, right?

70% base BEFORE slices is available (though expensive) on our server. I don't even know how it's crafted - most of the stuff is 65-66% base.

Triple Blast layers or something like that should bring it up to 72% baseish with Chilastra resources.
