the laser carbine is very effective against melee, and i have found myself using acid dmg more and more all the time. i sitll use my Elite just cause it is 1.9 speed and krayted. but i'm interested in what the revamp will bring with the reduction or armor and buffs and healable mind.

I plan on experimenting more this weekend as I read more on the fencer & tka forums. It seems most don't wear any leg or foot armor. On top of that I have just aquired an action poison ee3, Leg shot 3 will be used alot for this experiment.

In my player city we have 5 faction bases, so we are always getting attacked so I’ve been pvp’ing a lot. This has given me a great opportunity to experiment with different type of weapons in different situations. There are all sorts of fotm’s that come to fight, rifleman/cm’s, fencer/ doc’s(very popular), tka/any and I’m always checking the combat screen to see what damage was done and so forth after each battle. Now everyone knows that our scatter shot only shows 1 point of damage so I can’t comment on that, but as far as other specials and our damage out put, Carbineers put out some very potent damage compared to others. Unfortunately our damage is to health and currently… well you already know.

Against the fencer/doc’s, tka/any it is very difficult to stick a kd on these fellows due to their high defenses. Until recently I’ve been using either my krayted sliced enhanced E11 or Elite and has been semi successful against these templates. But after reading some of the posts here from Nova and TA I used my 556 max dmg laser carbine against a band of melee’s that recently attacked and I was surprised to see the damage output on these fellows. Mind you, I was with a group and at perfect distance against them laying states and was rarely targeted by the attackers. Full auto single and area was consistently doing 500-700 dmg per shot and if a kd stuck they were doomed when my group caught up to them. Most of them were confident only using stun helmets. Unfortunately after looking at the fallen enemy, even though they had low health, they had died from mind wounds.

Against rifleman/cm’s damage mitigation as you already know takes effect so it’s difficult to go against these. But looking in the combat I was marginally better at damage out put, of course their weapon of choice was the jawa ion rifle, so my weapon was probably better than thiers.

On a side note I was recently a cm/mc and I found out that I was concentrating more on throwing poisons and diseases than helping my buds laying states, although I was good at cm using Havla and stacking a,b,c’s on the enemy I found my self being triple incapped to keep me outta the fight. So I dropped cm for fencer to get the defenses.

Now after reading some new threads I will have to try out my DXR6 carbine for acid use. But I’m very much looking forward to the combat revamp as I hear dmg mitigation will be dropped armor and buffs will be nerfed and mind will be healable. Carbineer sounds very promising.

Laser carbines are definately THE weapon to use on melee templates. If someone is just running after me with a melee weapon I switch my laser with the min/max powerup.

I hope mitigation goes out the window because that means the laser will be more viable in PvP. Further, the laser gets a damage bonus on anyone using armor of 25% energy or less. I have this feeling that we just might see armors in that range (don't quote me...no inside info).

I really have high hopes for our profession coming through the combat revamp well.

That's what it tells you in the combat spam, butit'snot hitting for thoseactual amounts due to armor, PSGs, synthsteak, etc. Until the combat revamp and armor nerfsaCarbineer (non-BH)really can't doenough damage through those protections with any of our guns. Acid or Laser areyour only chance against a well-prepared opponent depending on template.

As you also noted, if our KD sticks we give our allies a great opportunity to rush in and do the real damage. Plus we have our area-effect states to debuff the opponents. For the moment, those are our real strengths in a GCW battle.

It is almost impossible to kill people through action unless you have massive poisons.

If you do try, be careful with your mind as legshots use tons of mind.

I recommend spamming legshot until the stun sticks then spam actionshot2. It seems to do about the same damage and has half the mind cost.

Normally attacking action isn't smart because of the low DPS of the shots, but attacking unarmored legs instead of 90% chest, you're doing 10x the damage. Its too bad this isn't a habit of Chilastra.

I hear that.....when was the last time you saw a person in PvP without Comp and probably a PSG?

Well, you should have seen the sad attack on our city a few days before I left. They had armor I think, but it must have been like 50% or something and none of them took thakitillo. 75% of them maybe had buffs. I've never gotten so much FP so fast since I dropped Rifleman/CM. Carbineer must have been an absolute blast before 90% armor was common. Ithink the 3 of us that were online at the time at the city must have taking out a good 20 of them.. I'm not saying that I'm super awesome at PvP, but thats how sad the attack was. It felt even better because before they attacked they were sitting in our city talking alot of smack. It was really really fun.

Maybe the one-man wrecking crew, TAfirehawk, should visit your great city......I believe the story would be quite different

It would just be a game of chicken.....who is gonna bail first because they don't want their armor to decay anymore....

Actually, for the casual PvP (or TEF'd person) who decides to join a battle on a whim, it is entirely reasonable to not be fully armored. I personally only go into battle with a chest plate, and occasionally a helmet as well.

The scary thing is, on more than one occasion I have gone into battle with a helmet, and being unbuffed. Here I am with 1100 mind and 500 health/action, wearing a helmet and chestplate but no leggings or other armor, and what does my opponent do? He starts spamming headshots (or eyeshots in another occasion)... Hmm...

Why is it apparently only carbineers think in battle?

When I hadMBH I used eyeshot againstunbuffed people. Better to be safe than sorry especially against a stacker who is hard to hit, thus giving them time to heal the pool completely with a B.

It's been my experience (being on the receiving end, mind you), that if you are unarmored and have 500 max Health and Action, you need to spam heals just to stay alive, and even then you will die after a couple of hits (while your heal timer is resetting). That's just me though.

You do bring up the idea of fighting a defense stacking changing that balance which I didn't think of before. Maybe I was a bit premature in writting off "that dumb bounty hunter"...
