Thread: Who says we're not a crowd control profession anymore?

Well, I'm not knocking'em down, or rooting them all to where they stand, but I've found that as a BH/Master CarbineerI can still control a crowd rather well.

In groupPvP, I alternate Improved SprayShot and Improved Full Auto Area and my system spam reads something like this.

You have incapacitated...

You have incapacitated...

You have incapacitated...

You have killed... (usuallya triple)

You have incapacitated...

You have killed...

Not much help for solo PvPers, but in a group situation, we're a fantastic mop up profession. Even more fun when you realize one of the people you've killed on a triple incap is a Jedi who turns and whines about it for 20 minutes that you've cost him xp.

Ayami - MCH since september '03 and until NGE.
The removal of CH and the NGE in general is the dumbest thing a company has ever done. period.
CH deserves to stay, and SOE deserves to be *#&$^#*@ until they are #*&$& and then *#&$ some more!
LONG LIVE THE CREATURE HANDLERS!!!

- I support a rollback and keeping & balancing the old combat system.
...and making SWG a better place to be.

Carbineer is half what was promised, not that it is horrible in relation to the other profs on LIVE right now.....just that it currently falls way short without Suppression Fire working.

And go try Improved Full Auto Area in a group PvE situation......be sure to bring a Doc/CM to Rez you

hehe if my gurk groups get out of hand and people are fighting gurks all over the place i tap Full Auto Area twice and watch all the gurks herd to me. i then get incapped and lay on the ground and watch the xp roll in. not the safest strategy but if you can't keep up with your group it works

Yeah, I've added 0003 Pistoleer for StoppingShot. Handy little addition to the arsenal.

Carbineer's like a great computer, a strong CPU is only the beginning, its all in how you accessorize.

LOLZ, Oh hells no! You should have seen the mess I made of myself becauseI forgot SprayShot was AoE. "Damn, Janu, you're sure popular", was uttered more than once while I ran for my life from a pissed off bol...

I agree with you about functionality, we're definitely not the "position control" profession I remember reading about in the CU documents so many months ago and true "crowd control" is completely non-existant. I've pulled in specials from both BH and Pistoleer to try and get somewhere in the neighborhood, but in most group PvP situations, which is really why I came back, my best bet is a high DPS carbine and the "spray and pray" method while standing behind a wall of lightsabers.

well if you check the knowledge base ingame the topic of overview for the carbineer profession says it is damage dealer/crowd control, not "just" crowd control. alot are thinking that we are ment to be completely aoe crowd controllers, when we have a great knockdown, a good snare, a nice damage leg shot, and some other shots that are great for conserving action points.

so IMO when looking at that description i think we are living up to what they had planned, except for the broke supression fire.

like someone said carbineer is like the cpu, the other stuff you add makes it even better, for me i prefere combat medic/doc--nasty!

Many people share this idea, so don't think I am picking on you.....but there is no freaking way you can get Crowd Control from SINGLE TARGET ATTACKS. Even the Devs want to say our single target specials are working as crowd control abilities and I don't buy it from them either.

One damage dealing Cone Special and another that was broken since before Day 1 of Beta that does some unknown State does not make a Crowd Control prof when even the 1vs1 BH prof has the SAME NUMBER of Cone Specials.

The Primary and Secondary Roles (only ones listed) BOTH deal with AoE/Cone Position Control and Damage but 80% - 90% of the prof is SINGLE TARGET ATTACKS......this really rubs me the wrong way but so far my complaining is falling on deaf ears in the Corr Forum.

I understand that we work decently, but what gives us seperation? Pistoleers have fanshot and stoppingshot (which is better for CC than cripple), BHs have sprayshot, and rifleman has knee-cap shot which is the same as crippleshot. Plus each of those professions also has its own unique perks. What does carbineer have that other ranged professions don't have?

Suppression Fire is being fixed/changed/tweaked and appearing on TC shortly.....this is clearly a unique ability now and provides great crowd control.

Rapid Fire will be next on my list along with Scatter Shot but the proposed change by Keldarin for Suppression Fire makes me VERY happy right now.
