I was going to suggest this because ranger takes up so many skill points, that having it, and having a combat prof mastered leaves you 4 SP, which you can't do anything with. It would be nice to either A) get a bonus out of my ranger skills, or B) take away the master scout requirement for ranger, allowing us enough skill points to get some healing abilities.
Ranger prerequisites are also changing. In addition to get a full set of combat mods comparable to other combat professions you will only be required to have 2 novice skill branches to earn Novice Ranger, similar to Bounty Hunter, Squad Leader or Commando. We are currently looking at setting the Ranger prerequisites to Scout - Exploration 4 and Marksman - Carbines 4.
I'm personally giddy about the possiblity of this template. I"m thinking of using my token respec to take my crafter and do this template.

Recon armor is available
Well, probably will anyway, lol.
Imperial StormCommandoes FTW!

At first the devs said that the Ranger battle armor cert would be changed for a recon cert(which I agreed with). Then a lot of players complained since their really expensive uber battle armor would become useless. Now we're stuck with battle again
Also, the actual dev comment from the HOC chat was "We're going with Carbines IV & Exploration IV for now", so it's still subject to change. Ranger has always been an elite profession and it makes sense to keep the Scout Trapping and Exploration lines as prerequisites (making it a profession similar to Doc).
Not exaxtly, with healing being almost a requirement now for PvP having ranger pre-reqs as two scout trees would mean that only MBH/MRanger would leave enough SP for some decent healing.
Personally I love the Carbs pre-req and with it announced itwould have been much easier to get the recon cert... that is one major problem with the devs, they cave to pressure way too fast, even before all the information has been released so no one really knows if what they are complaining about even has merit.
