Thread: Questions from A newbie
OK I am new to the game and I have run across a few things so far that I am unable to understand. Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.
1. Armor What do I look for here? I see all sorts of stats on armor and I do not know which it better, what to look for etc.
2. Pistol Attacks I have completed Pistol IV and using a Scout Blaster as my main weapon currently. From experimentation, it seems to me that Bodyshot 2 is the best attack. I have tried regualr attack, pointblank1, Bodyshot1, and Health Shot1. Can anyone enlighten me on thais?
3. Occupation I am in the game with my father and he is a BE. Being he is a BE he needs ALOT of quality meat. He rewards me well for the meat I collect forhim and he is hoping that I can become his full time supplier of meat. This partnership per se will provide me with a steady income with the potential of becoming quite wealthy if I become a fast and efficient killer. Currently I have MARKSMAN 0-4-0-1, SCOUT 4-0-3-0, and Novice Medic. Now to best fill this role I have considered Pistoleer, Commando, Creature Handler, Ranger, or possibly a combination of them. I will be collecting this meat mainly solo and alot of this meat will needed from some of the nastier mobs in the game. So I guess I am looking for a profession that will allow me to collect meat in a somewhat safe manner as quick as possible. Part of this equation is finding the mobs too which is why I was considering Ranger. Can anyone give me their thoughts here? Thank you.
1. Since you go hunting after creatures the most, I guess the bestarmour for you is one with high kinetic resists (and low encumbrance).
2. I'm not a pistoleer, so I'm not 100 % sure they have it, but don't forget the aim-attack. If you're going for meat, I bet alot of the time you go for one-hit-kill creatures anyway, so the extra damage from the special attack doesn't matter.
For the harder creatures, see the pistoleer-forum.
3. A ranger would be best for you, yes.
yes your first shot as a 0-4-0-1 marksman should always be health shot 1. it is a bleed and even if you stop attacking the MOB its health will still be dropping every so often (though hs1 isnt that strong)
after you land the bleed (youll see the little blood droplets on the MOBs status bar) just spam body shot 2.
hope this helps ya out

Hi! I'm quite a newbie and i need some help on creating my template. I want to do pistols eventually grenades, so my template is now BH3040 master pistoleer and commando 4000. So, here's the questions:
1.Are there any special things about Bh4000 that i really should have? With BH 3xxx you can take PC Jedi Missions from the terminals...4 doesnt do anything more i dont think
2.Is grenading mixed with pistols a good idea at all? If you wanna grind Jedi/FS XP and still be viable in PvE, id reckon so.
3.Do i have too little melee defense to be any good in PvP? No clue on that, dont do a whole lotta PVP
4.Does ranged mitigation1 if you have it in both BH and Commando go double up or does it not make any difference if i have -both? Mitigations do NOT stack. Ranged 1 + Ranged 1= Ranged 1.
5.Is the template so bad that i should just trash it and start all over? I think it would be ok, but its all personal preference
6.If yes, what should i be? One of the great things about this game is that you can change stuff around as much or as little as you want. Experiment, have fun
7.can you also submit good ways of grinding the template? Solo groups on dant doing creature missions. Cash sucks, but if you pick up novice scout you can generally find someone willing to buy some type of creature resource, so you can harvest what you kill and make a buck.
(currently pistoleer 1113 BH 1441)
1) BH 3000 will allow you to hunt Jedi.
2) Many will say Grenades are useless for anything except blowing yourself up and grinding FS/Jedi XP. Pistols are currently underpowered, although they can hold their own, but you need to have a Pistol/BH or BH/Smuggler or Smuggler/BH combo to get that extra power.
3) A lot of PvP is Melee. Rifle is the most commonly used Ranged profession in PvP, due to its Mind Attacks, insanely high damage, and good damage types.
PvPing with a Commando won't be a good idea at all, unless you have another profession you're very viable in. Commando fares poorly in PvP, with the exception of its DoTs, so you'll need a good direct damage source otherwise.
4) Ranged Mitigations of the same level do not stack.
5) I'd definetely recommend a mastery in a profession. If you're going to dabble, get a Mastery first, then spread those extra points around, not the other way around.
6) I'll take it that you enjoy ranged combat. BH/Pistols and BH/Carbines are nice combos, or you could drop the BH, and go Melee - Ranged. TKM/Pistols/Smuggler, TKM/Rifles, Sword/Rifles, Pike/Carbines, Pike/Rifles, anything.
7) Any template, the fastest way, is to get buffed, get some Ubese armour, and then spam specials on Quenkers/Savage Quenkers/Hurrtons on Dantooine. However, you won't learn much, and its incredibly boring and tedious. Not recommended.
