Hi im finally starting to get into pvp with my master carbineer/master tka template, I was wondering if you guys had any tips for carbineers in pvp, like what weapons and what shots to use and anything else that can help out. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also im curious as to why we have no condition modifyer attacks like dizzy or bleed or stun or any of that. It seems we dont have that many special shots. We have stuff like aimed shot and burst fire and leg shot but its all really just more powerful shots like an overcharge. The only one we have i think is snare :-\ why is this?

Because we're back to where we were before Publish 7. Only half of what we were promised is in place, and most of it is bugged or underpowered.

That is not even close to the truth of Carbineer or SWG right now......

Many people underestimate the power of a carbineer/doctor.

agreed carbineer doc rocks......

But anyhow to stay on topic..... I use my snare to keep distance..... Perhaps the bigest mistake I think I see people make is not taking advantage of their range. Personally in your case having tkm that might not be an issue. But for alot of people if you have a 50 meter ranger I dont see why you would be toe to toe with a jedi.... But anyways also i use the stopping shot from pistols. Those are my 2 major control moves. For damage I spam leg shot, rapid fire, and body shot. But be careful you will eat your action bar up fast... I also have ranged attack set as my default. Lastly, I use full auto area andfan shot for group damage ...

Carbineer does rock now, it is NOT underpowered! (i outdamage riflepeople and swordswingers all the time)

Altough you must agree that carbineers now are more damage dealers than crowd control...

Best suggestion I can give you for carbineer is to combine it with another RANGED profession, or one of the hybrid professions (Doc, CM, SL, BH, SM, even CH). Carbineers get good accuracy and speed mods, but they are lacking in their overall set of specials and weapon certs.

If you look through this forum, you will find that there are TONS of viable carbineer templates....each suited to a different playstyle. Carbs are most often combined with Pistoleer and BH, with Doc and CM being also very popular. Squad Leader brings nice defenses and cool weapon certs, and Smuggler gets some nice specials. I dont think there is any one template that is the best overall.

Personally for PvP I believe in having either Doc 4xxx or CM 4xxx or better. With the CM 4xxx or xxx4 trees you can have decent healing or nice offensive capabilities, respectively. With the Doc 4xxx tree you can heal yourself faster than a Jedi can hurt you usually, especially if you have decent recon armor. That is another reason to pick up some pistoleer : Recon Armor. If you are going up against Jedi, you will want recon armor most of the time. LS is energy damage, and Recon armor excels at energy resists. Depending on your server, you can get recon armor with around 8400+ energy resist. There is a point of diminishing returns on it, but the more protection the better.

To be honest, I would either drop the TK or drop the Carbineer. There are a couple reasons for this. First and foremost is that the innate TK armor is VERY nice....nicer than a lot of crafted armor. Problem is, you only get the benefits of it if you DONT wear any other armor. Thats a problem...because it means that you either have to ditch the TK armor and wear battle armor all the time, or take all of your armor off anytime you switch to TK. Neither one of these is very desireable IMO. I cant argue whether TK or Carbs is the better profession, I just dont know that it is the most efficient way to spend your skill points for PvP. I think concentrating on either Melee or Ranged instead of a hybrid would make you more dangerous in PvP.

Just my opinions. Hope they help.

yeah so i dont have to pay for 300k armor haha But yeah i agree, i see alot of people combining ranged with ranged and melee with melee, but the thing is what if you get caught outside or inside of your effective range? i may not be as powerful as someone with two melee classes, but i have the options to kite them, if i come up agaist say a rifleman, knockdown shot, snare, run up and beat the crap out of them with tka. I find it very effective for pve but i dont know about pvp, my findings have been mixed, but then again i guess if any non jedi gets attacked by a jedi hes gonna get owned hha.

Well...There are a lot of ways to deal with keeping the range in your favor with all your combat focused on range. Kd's roots snairs in sevral places. Yes you could get hit by a mele but with well thought out shot placement you can keep most off you enough to put the hurt on. The thing is...Wile your using a carbine everything in tk is useless to you except the armor. And wile you use tk carbineer gives you nothing more than a higher solo level. Each is good but dont realy compliment eachother to much. The same with all hybrid chars. Not saying they are not strong or good but dont compleatly excell in either area.

I guess its just a choice of being really good in one area or well rounded
