Thread: Tumbling to Standing = perfect counter to dizzy/posture down?

I was reading the 19 answers from TH, and I saw the question about tumbling from the marksman community. I was just wondering how many of us either use tumbling to standing to bypass the dizzy plus posture down form of KD or have seen someone do this in a battle. I rarely have to use this tactic in PvP, but it has saved my rear in many battles against NPC stormtrooper patrols.

Let me clarify. I regularly go against NPC stormtroopers. When I have a fire fight with a squad of STs, I am normally forced to kneeling by one of them. If I have a "dizzy" state on me, I will tumble to standing/prone to change postures instead of the normal /stand or /prone command. This seems to bypass the check to see if you fall over during a posture change. I was just wondering if anyone else does this or has seen this sort of thing?

OK, well I just kill them in a couple seconds and don't worry about it

The point still stands, though, and might be useful in PVP. But I read somewhere you can't use specials while tumbling... is that true, or a misrepresentation?

I think the only specialyou can use while tumbling is /aim.

I was very curious about the /tumble commands too...so i tested it.

I had a friend dizzy me when i was kneeled. I hit /tumbletostand and i rolled out of the kneeling position without falling down. The problem is you cannot use any special attacks while tumbling. You have to wait until the little symbol by your head disappears. But this may be worth it because i would rather autofire for a few rounds then just lay there and get scatter skiaked to death.

You have to be careful to watch as soon as you get pstured down if you are already dizzy. Most of the time you aren't caught up with the server and you have already tried to take another step while dizzy/kneeled. THerefore you are already on your way to the ground.

And /tumble commands DO NOT work while you are KD.

From watching the responses to this threadand talking to a folks in-game, it looks as though this was a widely unknown technique. On a side note, this would be great if they made tumbling an elite ranged skill (rifleman, carbineer, pistoleer). They could possibly turn it into a defensive stance like center of being, only not as powerful.

Widely unknown because it doesn't come into play very often....

I just had a thought. As a carbineer, I use the dizzy plus posture downquite a bit more than the dizzy plus knockdown (due topotent anti-KD food). In PvP, these two techniques produced the roughly the same results. They made my opponent(s) immobile for a bit. However, this tactic would be nullified by a simple /tumble. Perhaps it is for the best that not a lot of people use this.

/tumble command does not work while KD. You would have to go prone or kneel first

As soon as the dizzy lands stand still, then wait for him to posture you down, then use it. He can't posture down again for another 30 seconds

Just hope he isn't a master brawler
