Thread: Is Action Shot 2 Broken?

I'm pretty new at carbineer. Action 2 almost never works for me. It says "You fail to change your target's posture". Does it ever work for anyone? Thanks.

I get a posture down every once in a great while... Its supposed to be AoE/Cone, but it seems to be Not "Hit Every Target" but "Hit random target in cone." I'll have to re-read the FAQ to be sure if it is supposed to be like this. FAA1 seems to hit everything in the cone, though.

it never causes posture change in creatures only in NPC's and PC's

And even then it's touch and go... people have defenses you know

BTW Yes it is true, I've tested it myself, poison only ticks once every TEN seconds!

Though you will not see a posture change animation, creatures DO get posture changed. It stops them from moving for the durration of the posture change.

Action Shot 2 works just fine. More than likely, you get the combat spam due to the fact that you hit multiple targets but did not successfully posture change ALL of them. Though the shot will more than likely HIT everything in the cone, it is not guaranteed to posture change everything it hits. Also, if you use it multiple times, say against 3 targets, and posture change one of them on the first shot, and the other two on the second, both times it will say that you failed to change your target's posture. That is because it will also say that if you hit a target that has allready been posture changed (due to the 30 second rule). You may not be noticing it, but watch your targets. If they stop running, then it was successful.

OK thanks.I'll read the FAQ. I always forget to. What does AoE mean exactly? I'm guessing "Area of (something)". Thanks.

Do you think that it could still be working and that "failure to change posture" message is just a bug? I'll test it out and read the faq, just thought you may have seen that before.

Yeah it's pretty weird. I'm still fairly new to the game but i have noticed this too.The shot does work though. Sometimes even with mychargeshot2 shots, i'll knockdown 3 out 4 stormtroopers in one shot but still get 4 seperate "Your attack failed to knockdown your target" or whatever it says, while looking at 3 flopping ST's...../shrug

I wrote it off as a bug the first day i started hunting and now i just ignore them.....i wish there was a way to turn them off, actually....ya know the ones the appear in white at the top of the screen then fade away? Can you turn those off somewhere?

I couldn't find it in the FAQ's.....

Yes, there is. Go to your options menu (Ctrl+O) and then look for a check box that says something to the effect of "Disable onscreen system messages" or something like that. I wish I could remember what tab it is in, may be the Interface tab, but I'm not sure.

If you don't want system messages in your chat box, right click on the tab and select "Modify." There will be a box on the right for the current enabled channels and a box on the left for disabled chanels. Disable System Messages so that they are in the box on the left hand side.

Area of Effect. AoE is really inaccurate (I have tried to stop using it) and cone is actually a better term. All of the cone specials in carbineer fire in a 30 degree cone (Thanks to Firehawk for the research).

It basically means if you are 50 M from your target, you can hit almost everything on the screen (depending how you have your screen setup...if you have a wide wide angle, you won't hit everyting...)

I was with a friend last night and we reset our dant missions so we could go do the jedi temple again. The last light mission has this pretty tough dark jedi. I did actionshot 2 and the posture down stuck. I have not been carbineer long, but it seems to work for me. I do get that message often though, just not everytime.

I've never gotten anything else from a creature than a "you have failed to change your targets posture"-message so I figured it was ok and a feature, must have not been paying enough attention. Will keep a close eye to Action Shot in the future. Thank's for clearing that up.

One other comment...

If there is a lair around and you use actionshot2, it will often try to posture down the lair and you will always get the "you failed..." message. Thsi can be quite confusing. Imagine a case with 1 creature around a lair. You fire actionshot2. If you succeed against the creature, you will get 1 message of "you failed" but this is from the lair. If you fail against the creature, you will get 2 messages of "you failed". Wierd, I know.

This is also true for chargeshot2.
