Thread: So is this the best PvP carbine now?

Versus an opponent with ranged mitigation, is this setup now your best bet (forgetting about looted weapons for a moment)?

Elite carbine, damage sliced, min damage powerup:

162-214 @ 3.5s (unmitigated)

162-204 @ 3.5s (vs. ranged mitigation 1)

162-193 @ 3.5s (vs. ranged mitigation 2)

162-183 @ 3.5s (vs. ranged mitigation 3)

Thats consistent with my thinking, although being a Master Doctor I am considering speed slices and Speed/Min damage powerups rather than Damage slices and Max damage powerups.

Im thinking speed is gonna be more important now with mitigation.

Good point. I got one with a nasty damage slice so the speed's at 2.3s. I'll try both.

Yes I've been using an Elite along those lines, sliced for speed with a speed powerup.

I also have a DH17 Short with 1.2 speed (speed slice, speed powerup). It has been missing a hell of a lot in PvPsince the patch, might just be my range or something but I think it's the mitigation.

Use a DXR6 - it's comparable, if you're ideal is lower then elite.

DXR6 - ideal is 22 m's

Elite Ideal is 40 M's - So if you're far use the Elite but close, use the DXR6.

Have custom order of a scope - Gives + Aim mods.

MBH + expert carbine marksmanship = +150 carbine accuracy. I don't miss.

ive been using a non-kraytscoped elite sliced for speed (2.4spd) for pvp since damage mit. was implemented and i love it. the scopeputs the actionham over 60but i can self-buff so ham isnt an issue. if ham is an issue just drop the scope and get a nice speed slice anyway. with master speed mods im shooting the tightest damage spread carbine at 1.6 spd and its good....

gonna get me some +32 minimum damage/speed powerups tomorrow to use with it

makalas..two questions

1) what does a scope do?

2) Why not +32% speed/ +15% min damage? I imagine you are trying to get as close to the speed cap as possible with crippleshot?

My thoughts were speed would be primarily more beneficial than min damage in that case.

1) a scope can be made to increase wound chance or increase ideal range at the cost of higher HAM. I have my scoped carbines made with +ideal range.

2) a 32/16 max/min damage powerup widens the damage range of a weapon thus causing it to be penalized by damage mitigation in pvp to the point where the powerup benefits are pretty much negated at best and at worst make the carbine even worse than it was before. That being the case, for pvp im using +32mindamage/+16 wound chance powerups. the elite has the tightest damage range of any carbine, using this powerup it tightens it even more. with the speed slice, master carbineer speed mods, a min damage powerup i can negate a good deal of the damage mit penalties and still have a very fast weapon with good pvp damage and an AP1 rating.

personally i'd drop the scope and add a stock. if HAM isnt a concern then this wont matter to much plus it will add +30 to min damage. I had a bunch of DRX6 made with stocks and got the slice i wanted. now with a min damage powerup im doin 222-222 @ 4.0 speed. that hits hard with crippling shot, especially when theyre lying on thier back.

To be honest, with tight damage weapons, speed or minimum damage will come out about the same against mitigation. I've done the math, and the difference in dps is negligible. Given that, I'll stick to my standby of a speed-sliced dh17 for states/KD application, and a damage slice/min powerup for the biggest preloaded damage (ie, get the big hit in to kill, and then delay for the next shot in safety) I can manage.

DAoC archer vets are quite familliar with the advantages of preloaded damage.

Mobs and NPCs don't have ranged mitigation yet. The only opponent you will face with ranged mitigation is another player in PvE.
