Thread: Why Do people think a stun carbine is overpowered?

I know alot people in past postes said that it would reduce strategy if we got a stun weapon. Which is true. Armor should be changed. Which is true. But is any of this going to happen? The developers never said anything about changing armor, they have way too much going on with revamping jedi at the moment. What im trying to say is that no matter what strategies you use a rifleman with some kd food will destroy a carbineer by spamming one special. Rifleman does not need a nerf but other proffesions need balancing. Maybe the jawa needs a change. the ap1 punches through the meager stun armor available now. All I am doing is being realistic. Giving a stun weapon schem is the easiest solution the devs can implement.

Ok we (carbineers)have a few damage types but why do people keep coming back to stun. So what if armor has major weakness to stun, most npc and creatures are vulnerable to many moredifferent typesof damage, we(carbineers) do not have. One beingcold,kinetic or even blast (whichI know we will probably never see this one). If it is only for the PVP aspect then whygocarbineer since rifleman is the choice for pvp(currently).
I choose carbineer for my new toon is because I have never liked rifles, they are too cumbersome in my opinioneven tho they are not soin galaxies.Still I like CQB style weaponry, my first choice was pistoleer (primary character), and now carbineer (secondary character).
I would like to see more damage types since I can not understand why in a universe as technologically advanced as Star Wars we are stuck with such limited weaponry.

Arent they changing mind so it cant be a special damage type?
Plus, Id rather get our specials fixed and working how they should first

I have heard the no more Mind hit thing too, but who knows IF that will really happen.
And it is special, not "specials" to get fixed ![]()

I think the mind thing you are referring to is really that specials will no longer effect the mind. Meaning that as you use your specials it will not take away from your mind pool.

if that's so that'll only make rifleman more powerful

PLAIN AND SIMPLE. IF CARBINEERS GOT STUN WEAPON, WE WOULD POSE THREAT TO RIFLEMAN/PISTOLEERS

I think the issue isn't needing a new damage type, but needing a revision to the way armor works. Wearing armor that is ~70% resistant to common damage types makes me almost invulnerable in PvE (while buffed and drunk on brandy). This really is no challenge, and is no fun.
The devs could kill two birds with one stone by making armor less effective. This would make PvE more challenging, and fewer people would be able to solo high difficulty missions / mobs. This would also balance out the economy by making credits harder to get through missions.The second bird would be nerfing armor to balance out PvP as no one person would be highly resistant to a number ofattack types.
If comp armor was 35% to all resistances, or specialized to be 50+% to one damage type and 25% to the rest you wouldn't be so dependent on a weapon of a specific damage type. Suddenly all weapons could be made useful by simple changes to damage types / AP.
I'd also like to use this venue for my own means: Fix Jedi. I'm sick of seeing screenshots of Jedi's in Comp. armor....*shakes fist*

This whole issue of needing a stun type or needing a cold type, or whatever type is a bit redundant. Most people want stun for PvP. Most want cold or kinetic for PvE. We can't have it all. Fixing "armor" is not the answer either. I mean think about it, it may make PvE missions more difficult, but it will make PvP even more lame than it already is. Carbineers IMO are great. They are balanced with most other professions. The real problem which I think all would agree is with combatting people in PvP in that we have no real damage types to do much. I mean a rifleman can hit you in 3 to 4 shots and you go down with a great composite set of armor. The key there is to rush the riflemen and get inside of his range. He becomes way less effective. Now, if they ever fix the shooting through walls bug, rifleman will lose their greatest asset. They will no longer be able to stand inside bases and pick us off one by one. They will be out in the open like the rest of us. I don't know about you, even with current armor stats, I can't solo upper level type things. Now I have watched a rifleman stand there and hit conceal shot and never be attacked by anything. I think the main **edit** here by most poeple is that we can't compete in PvP because of the stun damage being done to us, not by the fact we can't do stun damage back. The biggest and best fix the devs would push down would be to cap a rifleman speed at 3 and make their accuracy go way down as we get closer. That will fix PvP plain and simple. A new weapon for us would at that point be useless. As for weapon types on PvE, I agree, there are some mobs that we can't inflict damage on. But, this also applies to other combat classes as well. That is exactly the reason why hunting in groups is required, the damage you can't do, someone else can.

There is not one or even two things to "fix" this problem.....an entire change from the bottom up is required and why it is taking so long.
