Thread: Accurate guns

Has anybody tried forgetting damage/speed and getting a maximized accuracy gun? Just to pull random numbers out of mid air, I can imagine a case where a master weapon smith can make an elite carbine with +150 accuracy. The purpose of this would be for high end PvE and possibly PvP fighting.

As it has been theorized that accuracy affects the ability of applying states, it might be worthwhile (especially for speed capped MCarbines/BH's) to try out an extremelyaccurate gun. The point would not be to maximize damage, it would be to augment the group.

Imagine how much you could help a group if you couldconsistantly apply stun-dizzy-blind to a night sister elder...

I could try it possibly. Don't know how much it'd help. Right now my Elites are 94 at ideal. Thats a good idea though. I don't remember how much I experimented on the subcomponents in terms of damage and range. I haven't been ingame in awhile. I'm guessing it could get upto maybe 130ish. Keep in mind experimenting on the final combine doesn't help too much. Maybe 1-2 pts of accuracy per experimenation point used. I'll try it when I get back in a week.

I know that it does make a huge difference, today I was killing voritors near my house on dant buffed using my +72 DXR6 and they would be KDed the first time almost always. When my buffs ran out I swtitched to a DH17 and it took 3-4 shots to KD them. But I'm still not sure if the trend to applying states would continue if you got an even more accurate gun, ie allowing you to KD lvl 100+ enemies reguarly.

I'll let you know when I get my DXR6 made with an advanced scope (exceptional), it should end up at around +130 or so accuracy.

On a side note what is our most accurate gun? The elite?

Don't know how anyone but a BH could fire a gun like that. My Elites are 4.1 (Normally 3.8) because I make a very special variety of stocks which add alot more accuracy than usual, but at the cost of more speed. The speed would go up still even more if I experiment on accuracy instead of damage on components and experiment range on final combine. I'm estimating 6-8 speed.

It's very easy. I would easily choose firing one shot every 5 seconds which had a 50% chance of sticking stun, dizzy, or blind then firing every second when fighting a night sister elder in a group. Carbineers do so little damage against very high end mobs anyway it's not that big a damage loss, and applying states will very much augment the group...

It's all about what your goal is, and the goal is not always to be the person kill the enemy (thus need a high DPS). It might be to augment the group, to escape, to keep HAM costs down for a protracted battle, etc. There are many different circumstances and goals, and a good carbineer (or combat medic, for that matter... ) can and needs to adapt to what you are trying to accomplish. Just because you *can* fire at speed cap doesn't mean that you *should*.

Incidentally, I don't think I've ever fired a gun at speed cap, and I think that is a good thing. I would much prefer that any positive has a negative to weigh against (such as more damage for less speed depending on the special used), than the loss-less gain that the speedcapgives (more damage but same attack speed depending on the special used). That's just me though...

Any idea what would be the best base gun? Since its for states damage wouldn't matter. I think elite has the best ideal and pointblank, but I could be wrong. I haven't really played much with E11s, DH17s, and EE3s so I dont know if those would be better.

You could also just get some range powerups that provide extra range bonus's. My side job is selling pups, and you would be supprised if an Artisan actually spent time on making these on how good they can become. A few that ive made so far came out to 33.18 max damage 16.35 min damage 8.58 maxrange accuracy or pointblank accuracy bonus. That 8.58 gives ruffly a +4 to +5 range bonus alone. Not bad for a powerup.

Any particulary insightful results from this gun, Novamarine (or anybody else who played with one)?

Unfortunately, no. I didn't get online as much as I had planned this weekend.

I did get the opportunity to run into one of those named NPCs one finds now and then on Dantooine. The 25k HAM, medium armor, 80% resist ones. My friend was tanking so it allowed me to experiment a bit. My goal was a to land a state. So I was spamming FAS2 using a laser carbine. I tried from 30 M, from 50 M (ideal), 50 M kneeling and 50 M prone. Nothing. No states.

I don't know what this says since these mobs are pretty resistant to anything but damage. However, the increased accuracy from ideal range and prone certainly didn't help.

When I come back I'll try making a super accurate gun and use my BH accuracy mods and food to see if I can stick something. Keep in mind they're also changing the accuracy equation so that MAY let us land states.
