Thread: carbine prob #1 landing states!!

Well i know the most important factor with the carbine is landing states and if we cant land our states not only does it take ALL the fun out of being a carbineer but also makes us useless


I thought we could use our states in pvp but i was wrong most EVERYONE on my server now has def vs dizzy +85/ def vs stun +80/ def vs kd +90 AND def vs posture (down) +80 which means now all im down to is my 236-400 dmg dxr6 carbine vs a guy with 90% acid resist armor and dmg resist food which takes my dmg down to about 40-50 on ranged and 100-150 on melee


Plus in pve on med/high and high end content there is a 1/1000000 chance we will land our states .


If a dev or someone with some power is reading this PLZ make it so we have ATLEAST 1/5 or 1/10 chance of landing our states ALWAYS no matter how much defense they have.

there is always a 10% chance a state will land, thats why state defense caps out at +90 instead of +100. i agree tho, npcs have WAAAYYY too high a tolerance for states. a nightsister should be just as suceptable to getting dizzy or KD as a normal person

hey wanna know something everyone knows already, you can just go melee if you want to put uber states on(intimidate, warcry, stun, dizzy blind, hmm tk? fencer? huh? where am i? j/k well unfortunately thats just the way it is for now, with the defense stackers id say just try differant tactics. (pick up some defenses yourself so you can last long enough to ripem up a bit) for example, overt in anchorhead. suddenly my mind gets droppped in half, (quick take a muon, to heal my mind) /equip enhanced e11, legshot3, fullautosingle2, wildshot, fullautosingle2, actionshot1, (now when they are pd, is a great time to switch weapons) /equip dxr6 (make sure it has a really really really tight damage range, this is so crucial people. (don't go for the crippleshot yet folks, keep them down on the ground, hit them with legshot3 (it will stun them, and TARGET the action pool, (in some cases i feel as if stun keeps the states on a bit longer, almost a 'refresher' ok legshot3 a bit more, keep them stunned by all means, fullautosingle2actionshto2 (stack another bleed on them, keep them flopping, /legshot3 /scattershot2, /crippleshot, /legshot3 /scattershot2 /crippleshot, /legshot3 /scattershot2 /crippleshot, well you get the idea (tactics tactics tactics it can be done people, it can be done.

This is a known issue that we've actually been fighting for for some time. We are great at low to middle end content, but when it comes to the higher forms of combat (including PvP), our ability to inflict states is severely reduced.


At this point, the best thing we can do for PvPis either go up the BH line for the extra accuracy, get specially crafted carbines that have high accuracy modifiers, eat accuracy food, get accuracy SEAs, or rely on Brawler for Intimidates, which greatly helps us.


As for PvE, it's a no-win situation right now. I'm not sure how the Combat Balance will address this either. Let's hope it does.

Hm, I didn't know what to make of that either.. I was under the impression they didn't cap at all, or if so, at 125.

The do NOT cap at any number.


State Defenses are not on the list of hard caps at +125.

The do NOT cap at any number.

Well we should be aiming for more damage, as of right now we're the equivilent of a ranged Tk and Pikemen hybird.

Through I think we get the bad effectiveness of the pikemen.

Those who are going to bring up pike dots. That is another issue.

Yup - Pikeman has always been considered the "melee" version of Carbineers - they are our gimped brothers and sisters, heh.


Except that I can't get over the DoT stuff.. any good Pikeman will sport DoTs.. that's all they have to work with.. and quite frankly, its more than enough.


Several of my guildmates were Pikemen at some point, and the kind of equipment they have is just sickening.. from 500 tick Mind fires and poisons to 400 Health and Action ones with infinite uses.. and let's not forget their 1000+ damage LVAs.


It's a shame that Nightsisters generally drop more polearm-based DoTs than anything else. At times I wish the Developers made Carbineers the exact ranged-equivalent of Pikeman - I wouldn't mind using several DoT Carbines if that's what our profession boiled down to for damage.

I have a Action poison Laser carbine with 227 str. and 67%POT
Also have a Action fire Snub nose only 112 str. and 45% POT


Both where looted on the corvette so they are out there just got to find them, I found some good drops on the corvette for ranged professions. I take groups up to just kill the dudes up there and make runz at the loot lockers.
