Thread: Fun profession mix

I always wanted to play the character professions that I found most interesting, yet at the same time be viable for PvE. I always wanted MCH/MCarb, but as this leaves me a little gimped for speed, was wondering about going for:

MCH
4/0/4/4 Carbineer
0/3/0/0 BH

This gives me +95 Carbine speed and +105 Carbine accuracy, but I sacrifice some abilities and some counterattack.

Do people think this would be viable?

TIA

It would certainly be viable since your pets are tanking for you

You lose some precious abilities tough

But don't consider going PvP O_o

Want to hear about the old Kudaark? huh?
Vangeance he seeks from those who took away his Loved One
But never an innocent or a helpless one will he harm
For he is a Protector, fearsome and fearless in battle
In the name of Freedom he sways his Justice
The Purifying Flame burns within him, a Kuun-Lan, he is...

Looks like a decent tempt to me if you have a good carbine.

ch IS fun, i miss it (dropped for BH). And if they would just add PvP damage reduction to pets, or fix the knockdown Special Attacks (still broken? didn't used to work against players) it would kick much booty in PvP. As it is, there are some interesting potentials for it still... but it's really, really hard, not impossible, to make it work (the mobility of pets and you hopping on and off your speeder has some potential in PvP, especially when combined w/ DOTs (think MCM)) Props for playing what you enjoy instead of what's most deadly in the GCW, you'll figure out a way to play a role in most any battle.

As for carbineer + ch, yes, if you don't take the BH line you loose out on some serious speed. your selection of carbine trees is fine, though many people would suggest 4404 - i presume you want burst 2? You can play w/ it both ways, carbineer exp, once you have the BH line, comes quickly.

But is carbineer the best for combining w/ CH? I don't see how they really, strongly compliment eachother (other than Carbines are Fun Too!) If you're getting master marksman anyway, I'd consider MBH or mCommando (both have amazing area attacks) as an alternative. And of course there's mRifleman (area attacks and the highest DPS ranged prof in the game).

oh, i forgot, go BH 0040 and skip a top level box on carbs, confusion shot is one of the most useful carbine specials you'll have, it would be a shame to miss out on it.

Personally, I'd recommend:

Master CH

BH 0400

Carbineer 1423

The reason is because 4044 Carbineer gives you very little Carbine Accuracy, and you don't really need more Carbine Speed or WildShot2/ScatterShot2 if you have ConfusionShot and are looking to PvE.

This template also gives you +170 Carbine Accuracy, and allows you to speedcap with +90 speed (instead of 95, which is slightly redundant.) It doesn't include ChargeShot2 though, and while the latter is useful for PvE, against creatures it's semi-ineffective (as dizzy/KDs don't apply.) You could go 1324 Carbineer though, and sacrifice 25 Carbine Accuracy for ChargeShot2 if you really want it.

That is the worst statement I have ever heard.....some explanation/clarification is needed.

CH is one of the most fun profs I have ever played in this game. In fact I can't give it up to make my new PvP Carbineer as CH just fits my play style right now.

And you wouldn't believe all the folks that LOVE to have me bring Pete and Repete to fight ANYTHING...

CH is far from useless in PvE but in PvP you would be correct, it is 99% useless.

Very good suggestion, but don't get ChargeShot2 and don't worry about not having Defenses or even BurstShot2. FullAutoArea2 is the absolute best Special for a CH....I would give up my right arm before losing that Special when it comes to playing CH. States areunderrated for PvE with CH.

One thing I might suggest, is going 0444 CH to pickup Medic and 2413 Carbineer. Medic is great for healing pets along with Pet Stim's and 0444 CH gives me 2 level 22 BE Cats with 55+% Kinetic Resist with Light Armor and 10k Health. This allows me to tank a Greater Dune Kimo without them even being buffed.....throw some buffs their way and they could probably tank a regular Krayt

BTW, going 0444 CH - 0000 Medic - 2413 Carbineer - 0400 BH is easy enough to "test" on your way to MCH

CH fun ? oh yes, running back and foruth burning stims into your crap pets.

pit a tamed rancor against a wild rancor, some reason the wild rancor knocks the crap out of it

ive done Ch, sure it may sort of be fun for the ability to call out 2 graul maulers and look cool, but its not a support class, its just a waste of skill points and stims.

You have no clue /darthvadervoice "The Power of the Creature Handler"

Only BE Pets are worth a darn and a Light Armor, 60% Kinetic Resist pet will last forever against a group of 4 Rancors at once.

Just because you never learned how to play CH when others of us have, don't make a statement like "CH is useless" without any explanation of you opinion and experience....especially on this Forum without excepting to be "called out". You are entitled to your opinion just as I am, but don't claim it as fact especially without any explanation (and it is clearly wrong in this case).

I would be happy to show anybody how to play CH if you start a new toon (or have one already) on Chilastra, just contact me. CH is a KEY SUPPORT PROF for Carbineer in PvE.

BTW, you can buff pets and with that I NEVER use Pet Stims anymore

Yeah I have to agree with Firehawk, while CH is perhaps not the best profession out there, it's very fun and it appeals to many players because of that.

Keep in mind that CH used to be THE PvE profession before great armor and common buffs. Keeping a pet tank is extremely good if used well.. I mean a level 20-30 pet is enough to tank a rancor lair without a problem. Just blast away with FullAutoArea2/ActionShot2 or even CrippleShot and then harvest away for mucho credits if that's your thing.
