Hi all
I've been going through the forums trying to find what set of armour I should be using to minimise the ham effects of using my wonderfulcarbine. Currently I'm using chitlin butthere mustbe a better way. Can anyone out there help?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tip Nydrax, whats the advantage of Advanced Ubese armour for a carbineer?

You can wear it unbuffed, and it has low HAM cost. I have a good set of 60% Kinetic. It works good for me. I use it most of the time. Also pick up a few clothing attachments for Carbineer and insert them into the Ubese shirt. It adds a little bonus to the armour.

Cool that sounds great, how much I be spending on this. Any ruff price range would help dont want to get ripped off

I have a friend who is an armoursmith so it is hard for me to tell. I think about 75k will get you a set. Just ask around. What server are you on?

75k sounds like a good price, what stats should I be looking for? I'm on farstar Europe server.
Thanks for all the advice.

I love my ST armor. :-) But I usually walk around in a self-made low-HAM Comp suit. I made the pants w/ NS materials, and it had 56 base, 67 elec and 98 Action cost. Man was I floored when I got the 43 enc slice on it. hehe Made my day.

As far as price range, it varies greatly depending on the server. Your best bet would be to ask people on the FarStar server.
Which armor suits a Carbineer best? It depends on what you do. If you are running destroy animal missions, some advanced ubese should be OK. If you PvP at all, or go after high HAM monsters, I wouldn't go with anything less than good comp.
Personally, I am always buffed, so I wear my high resists composite and do not worry about HAM. However, most armorsmiths make Low HAM, and even Ultra Low HAM comp suits you can wear farily easily without buffs. If you have medic, you can keep yourself upright with stim B's, but make sure you have brandy on you to keep your mind from draining.

You should be able to get 60% kineticUbese for around 60-70k, and 70-75% kinetic ubese for around 100-120k.
At least these are the prices i have seen on Scylla and Chimaera....

Depends.
I have two armors I use for hunting. 70% kinetic ubese for those legendary type encounters with kimo's and krayt. For everyday hunting I get by with mabari or voritor scale bone. Both are cheap and while the 5% resists don't look good. You have to figure that most animals have AP0 so that 5% becomes closer to 55%. And you can get either set on unsliced and unbuffed.
Running NPC missions I go with one of three combos.
1. Low ham composite full set.
2. Boots, helmet, chestplate, and gloves. Those are the parts that take the most damage.
3. Buff up and go all out with the uber composite. But its a tremendous waste of money.
PVP I go with stun layer composite.

What La-grange said. I have an alt character who is a 10 point master armorsmith so I experiment a lot with various armors while hunting in PvE. Here's what I've been wearing:
1. Chitin .. 55% Kinetic and all pieces have been sliced for encumbrance so I have a 200 encumbrance on average for each HAM. I personally love the armor for hunting anything but epic type monsters (Krayts, Nightsisters, etc.).
2. Ubese .. 75% Kinetic with all encumbrance slices .. I can't remember off hand but I think the average encumbrance is around 300 for each HAM. I generally use this suit when I'm mobbed by rancors or fighting nightsister, krayts, crystal hunters, etc.
3. Stun Composite .. Due to the HAM costs on this suit (my whole suit is sliced for effectiveness) I only use this for PvP or fighting Lord Nyax. I have to be full on 2 vasarian brandies and 2 canapes in order to keep myself from getting mind incapped.
But its usually not a problem when PvPing.
4. Padded Armor .. I have made a couple sets of 75% Kinetic padded armor but the HAM costs in comparison to the Ubese has never really inspired me to wear it in PvE. HOWEVER .. The base stats for energy are 46% which makes it a pretty good all around piece of equipment to use. Just watch the encumbrance because I don't think you can equip a full set of unsliced padded without being buffed or have your stat migrations focused on secondaries. Another good feature of this armor is that it isn't very popular so you'll be somewhat unique wearing it.
5. Mabari .. I think I make 25% mabari armor and its extremely light and extremely cheap. Most servers sell a full suit for 10-20K. The tough part is finding a smith who keeps it stocked on a vendor.
You know .. I've never tried Mabari while hunting .. I'll have to give that a shot tonight when I get home.
The stats above will vary on each server due to the available resources. I think you're doing good with any chitin above 50% Kinetic, any Ubese above 60%, and stun composite with 25%+ Stun and 50%+ base. I think the stun suit I have now is 37% Stun and 79-81% Base with slices. Heh, it has 900 encumbrance on each HAM though.
Owie.
