Thread: Crippling Shot?

I just got this skill the other day. I haven't figured out what's so "crippling" about it. Someone said it's great for PvP. Could someone please tell me what this thing is supposed to do? I can't figure out. Currently, I use Charge Shot and Burst Shot in Pvp.

Heh, Charge Shot is awesome. The other night I was in Theed fighting Revenge TEFing rebels near the spaceport. I just kept pinpointing commandoes for KD. In massive Pvp, KD = clone, whereas Flame Single = "Heal me quick!". Finally went down after I was attacked simultaneously by a Graul, Commando, and a TKA (ouchie).

When I get Charge Shot 2, the rebels might as well stay home

Crippling shot is overrated on these forums, as nobody seems to notice the long delay after you use it. But it really is still useful in PvP provided you get good rolls on it.

If you really want to hurt someone in PvP, use Scattershot2. It's our most damaging shot, but you never hear about that because it incorrectly reports doing 1 damage. Watch the numbers it produces overyour enemy'sheadand you won't be disappointed with it. I like to spam the crap out of it when I'm buffed; figure I may as well exploit it before the numbers reported are fixed and they realize it's so powerful.

And yeah, Chargeshot2 has the capacity to make people as wary of us as they are ofCommandos. Too bad by the time they fix it everyone will be too busy with their flying cars... you know... in the real world!

I used Burst Shot 1/2 and Full Auto Single 2 mostly. Crippling Shots takes forever to refresh for another hit.

Crippling shot is a wonderful skill if you are a master carbineer/bh carbines for the xtra speed

with the bh boosts - It shoots off like any other special.

it's the highest dmg Modifier for carbineers.

Crippling shot is slow but quite powerful. As such, it's a great "finisher." Beat your target down using some bleeds and perhaps scatter shot or whatever other skill you have that you like. Once the target is down to a couple thousand health, blastit with crippling shot. You'll do a gob of damage to kill the target in a hurry and you won't have to worry about the delay before the next shot as your target is now dead.

Yeah, the time delay is exactly what I noticed when I started using this. With my laser carbine, I had to spam it about 10 times to get an idea of what the max hit was like. I find the DPS on this bad boy to be no higher than Burst Shot. However, it could possibly be used to "help" make up for The Carbineer Peeve (TM). Since it uses action pool the most, and burst shot uses health the most, you could alternate between the two to try and balance out your HAM usage.

Please don't tell me Charge Shot 2 is broken. I'm an Imp, and my plans were to go to Anchorhead fully buffed and spam this thing for the whole 10 seconds I can survive there, just to see how many rebels I can knockdown. I was just imagining how cool and funny the sight would be. (FREEEDOM! Blam Blam Blam)

When I imagined Crippling shot, I imagined the target's kneecap being shot out with a round of combat missed as the grab their leg, a posture change, and then a reduction of movement speed(i.e. crippled)

Perhaps now you understand why so many people go BH if they want to use a carbine. Charge Shot 1 causes the target to fall down only to get up faster than if we drop them to kneeling with one of our bleed shots.

Charge Shot 2 (from what I've been told), does nothing at all in terms of knocking people down. Rather, it just hits everything in a cone, making more things mad at you at the same time.

Crippling Shot, while the highest level special in the accuracy tree, is one of the lesser accurate specials in the fact that it doesn't target a specific part of the body. Rather, it's more of a souped up charge shot, which does a lot of damage, takes a long time, and hits a random part of your target's body.

I find the cripple shot very effective, but in certain situations only. If i am moving up on a target and think i can get the first shot. I go prone at max range and unload on the target. Stumbled upon this once when i tried it for kicks against some banthas (try to pretend to be a rifleman, i suppose). Took it out in one shot. "Hmmm, I said....lets try this again against a dragonet." So I did...major damage. Now I quickly switched to auto fire to try and stun the beast. The time between crippleshots can be a problem if you dont have a TANK. DO NOT TRY THIS AGAINST TUSKANS. A warlord took me out twice with one shot. The first time I did 800 points to him before I was sent mindlessly to the cloning center.Beinggreedy and hard headedI went out and tried it again. The second i did not even get the bloody shot off (hehe).

Auto fire 2 is still my favorite shot.

Recently got charge shot and burst shot. Charge shot is neat. Not a lot of true knock downs, but its fun to watch the target fall. Jury is still out on burst shot.

For me, crippling shot does the same damage as burst shot, but at a lower speed and with higher HAM costs, no matter which carbine I use (even an EE3 with 2.2 speed).

I'm sticking to burst shots for now.

Without the BH carbine tree speed modifiers, just simply don't use a laser carbine with crippling shot. It IS the most damaging shot we have, regardless of what a few people will tell you here. They are right in the fact that it's slow, but we do have a speed cap at 1.0 seconds. If you use a DH17 snub at level 4 speed tree, with crippling shot, you'll be firing just as fast as if you pulled a charge, burst, or scatter shot. I've said it two thousand times and I'll say it three thousand more. Speed is the key, and if you can pull a 7x damage modifer while firing at the fasted you can, by all means, own people.

I thought crippling shot is supposed to do massive damage? Yet I can do almost as much with full auto single 2, and do it faster as well. What good is it really?

For a non-BH carbineer FAS2 is much better DPS wise, but if you hit the speed cap cripplingshot gives you an edge in DPS.
