Thread: Is it just me or do the Devs hate us?
Are you kidding? BH is they're favorite child. They got all the toys, skills, and a nice little power boost to compensate for your poor KD nerf :'( Why are CHs quitting? Since the combat damage nerf, CHs are one of the few professions that are decent in PvP anymore. It's down to them and a few others, even with pet capacity nerfs.
No, the Dev's don't hate us, they just don't care about us. The problem is they're trying to fix the popular professions first, and not stopping to think that maybe the reason so many people are going for them is because they're the only ones that work! I myself was forced to pick up Bounty Hunter carbine just to hold myself over until Carbineer gets the attention it deserves, but isn't getting.
Carbineer, Rifleman, Squad Leader, Ranger, Commando, and more. All of these professions are underpopulated mainly because they don't work. The catch is, in order to get the devs attention in any kind of timely manner, they need more people pursuing them. But in order to get any more people willing to pursue them, they first need to get the devs attention so that they actually work!
Did you really not already realize that the devs hate us?
BTW, BH are totally inferior to a master carbineer now. KD's gone..whats left? oh yeah, accuracy and speed which doesnt matter once your master carbineer. Im master Carbineer and BH carbine 1-3 and the only reason i havent dropped BH is cause I havent needed to yet. It provides me with no advantage.
I am a CH/ Carbineer and I have to say the CH side of my char has it far worse. They "over-nerfed" the profession (I agree that a Novice should not have a Rancor, but the prof is totally different now) and spent no effort in fixing any of the problems that the profession had. I heard that the need to reasses how many Melons we should start with, became a much higher concern. In an environment where Duels are 2 or 3 shot contests, Having a buggy pet with bad path AI doesn't keep a CH alive. If I were in PVP, I would be much happier to have my Carbine skills than my CH ones.
As for the topic on the DEVs hating us, I do not think that is true. I don't think they hate the Carbineer profession at all, they just hate me!
they need an edit button..
was gonna say that problems aside, we feel neglected as well.

Yes, I can assure you that this simply is not true. There was absolutely no power boost given to us. The knockdown nerf that affects Carbineers affects Bounty Hunters just as much, since KD is really the bread and butter of our carbine line. Since the only way we can actually advance in our profession is to fight red con (instant death) marks with 10-14k HAM and attacks that generally kill us in 1-2 shots, the only way we can win is by preventing these marks from actually attacking us. That is by design. The increased HAM cost to knockdown moves definitely hurts.
But really, there has been zero increase in power. It is largely suspected that what was meant by those words was a sorely needed jazzing up of our third weapon, the Light Lightning Cannon. The weapon is slow, and hits for very little damage, and until recently the special attacks for it simply did not work. THAT is what is being addressed, and it is really needed. No bounty hunter in their right mind would use an LLC very much since it simply doesn't have the damage output or residual effects to be worthwhile.
Anyhow... the point is that if you're feeling neglected, that is understandable. To a large degree so are we. Heck, we have not even GOTTEN any dev feedback yet. That is pretty frustrating.
(I'll agree with the part about Pistoleers being the favorite child. That seems pretty obvious.)
Ciao!
Well something better start happening soon.. Look at the Dev Update for Commandos **edit** is that all about. I thought ours was bad. Get an A$$ rapin on a class that doesn't even work.. /sigh Thats a way to keep customers for sure.
Those that think they know.. only bother those of us who do...
Redwolf,
Yes, look at the Dev response thread and then look at the thread Holocron posted (use the advanced search because they Devtracker is still not recongizing Holo). So you see, the Dev responses are not the final word on these issues. Maybe if not pesimestic enough yet (or it could be that I've done some programming before :smileywink
, but I don't see the "we'll looking into it" as a blow off. This game is not a trival scale application and if any of you think this last patch introduced a lot of new bugs and issues, it would be far worse if they started implementing things without any analysis.
It seems to me this thread repeats itself in every professional forum I've been to. Combat Medics feel unloved. Creature Handlers feel unloved. Carbineers Feel Unloved. Bounty Hunters feel unloved.
Maybe they don't love us?
**edit**?
I was just looking at the pistoleer forum and the dev responses to their concerns are unbelievable:
Holsters: we'll try
Pistol Twirl: sounds great
Dual Wield: sounds great
DisarmingShot1 is messed up: we'll fix that right away!
this versus our responses:
"Uhh... We'll investigate"
"You have problems? Really?"
It's really effing sickening. The pistoleers are now b*tching because some people have pointed out that Disarmingshot2 is most likely not supposed to be an AE knockdown. Think the devs will nerf that shot--a shot that carbineers are supposed to have in Chargeshot2? Don't bet on it. The devs love pistoleers. They're totally owning in PVP, theirattacks are more effective than intended(heard of KD timer stacking w/ melee defense? Disarmingshot2 being an AE knockdown?), and the devs are contemplating letting them fire two pistols at the same time. Huh? Why, so pistoleers can kill everyone else in half the time?
Sorry for the rant. I'm just angry that pistoleers seem to be a class that is actually working better than intended, and the devs are bending over backwards to make them even better (or ignoring things they shouldn't have).
The CH should feel loved for **edit** sure. I just read a 14 point response to CH concerns earlier today. Only about 200% more in depth that the "Theres a problem? We didnt realize, well look into it" response that was thrown at us.
And we all know for **edit** sure pistoleers feel loved.
