Is it just me, or does it seem like the carbineer forums has more "Community Elders" than most other forums. Just to pull the names off the first page:

EisMan_Buckefe <-- Note: misspelled, but not intentionally fixed

Kaelle_DB

TAfirehawk

3D4D

HanDrexel

Bennyboy4308

Rorenikibi

Sivol

JerikArca

It seems like somehow the carbineer forum "latest post" column is always filled with community elders, with Novamarine, or the occasional "Community Member" posting something. (As opposed to mostother forums where posts are 50-50, or "members" are more common).

I wonder what that says about this profession...

It says nothing but good things.....

Also look at the post count of the individual posters = experience as well

But the bad news is that the Devs listen to "the community" from youngest to oldest.....

BUCKEYE! Not Buckefe! Get it right! I won't stand for someone dissing my school like that! JK

I JUST got enough posts on my post counter to make elder the other day. I may not have a lot of posts, but I like to think that quality is more important than quantity.

I didn't notice... *edit's post*

If only it was based on number of posts... I noticed I have posted more than many elders here...

Are there any extra privileges you get at eldership, such as the ability to edit other people's posts or sticky threads?

You can always sticky your own threads based on your desires. You can only edit your own posts, regardless of Veteran or Elder status.

The reason is because of the contest to 10,000 posts. First Carbineer to 10k posts gets a custom armor piercing (AP2)EE3 with stock and scope visably showing (aka Boba Fetts carbine). The Devs have also hinted it will have a specials like health fire on it.

Since when does post count mean anything? I could have 5k posts and none of it have any meaning what so ever. Kinda like this post of mine!

That sounds a lot like TAfirehawk's Carbineer Flamer. I was wondering why he kept posting so much on the forums...

So you think it if was based on number of posts people would grind forum status?

Master Carbineer since September, and Master Lurker ever since.

Our forums definitely have a unique feel to them. Only briefly disturbed by the fix to Chargeshot 2... thankfully most of them found out that you cannot simply mash the keyboard and win, and left us to our own devices.

Actually, now that I think about it, that wouldn't be a bad idea. They would need to be unannounced, but something like the first person to get 10,000 posts would be given a red gun with extra AP and a health fire DOT. Or a random low-payed intern could log in to a city and announce "a chuuba ate my wedding ring, can somebody please help get it for me", and the player who killed the correct chuuba and returned it could get purple chest composite plate that was 70% restant to all damage types. Or maybe somebody saying "I need this delivered to Janeth Sokeran on Endor's smugger outpost right away", and the first person to talk to the intern and Janeth (also controlled by the intern) would get a 45 functionality weapon crafting station that looked like a desk (a work desk if you will).

Basically, giving random, good, visible rewards to people who accomplish random things and quests. I think it would be fun, and if they were rare enough, not that unbalancing... Badges are nice, but nobody notices them, especially when you have 50 of them on your character sheet already. But if you were walking around with a red gun, people would take note. And the extra content wouldn't hurt either.
