Thread: Nice Patch

I can't tell if krayts got super boosted with this patch or ranged professions got nerfed, but let me tell you about my attempts to deal with a level 79 juvenile canyon krayt dragon. I'm level 80... MC/MBH/pistols 0404 and FS melee def 4.

Prior to this patch I could use snares and roots and KD's and heals to fight one of these, and my snares landed about 90%, roots about 60% to 70% and KD's about 40% of the time I'd say.

Today, my snares were 0 for 12, roots were 2 for 5 (not too much off from prior it seems) and KD's were 2 for 6. Had to run away both times, and came very close to dying on the 1st try as I was not as prepared for this. So snares are what really seems to be broken or lame right now.

I'm not complaining if they decided to make dragons harder to solo or kite... but they did not change their level, damage or HAM from what I could see. So, in effect what seems to have taken place is a nerf to the crowd control aspects of the crowd control professions.

You can say that this is only for high end content, but that was the precise problem before the CU when none of the carbine states or posture effects would stick to high end content, making that role useless.

That was why there were so many melee and rifleman players before the CU... and I'm worried that's where things will head if what I saw so far is how it is going to be.

Please, go out and test things out and give your feedback if you would. Maybe I'm just having some really bad luck so far today.

No more dragons for a while... perhaps some durnies around the starport until I stop trembling LOL.

I was hunting NS earlier today and i did notice a once in a while no effect from my snare but it didn't seem too noticable. It does seem however that my run speed has went down even more with a carbine equiped. I'm going to try some tests tomorrow. Also anyone notice snare doing almost nothing in pvp? I was hunting jedi and they didn't even seem to slow down a bit. not for sure if FR cancels out the snare? Oh I'm MBM/Mcarb/CM4000.

You must not be using tactics. Last night was the first time i ever hunted krayts. I killed maybe 20 of them solo, including lvl 86 giant canyons (tried an ancient, but he ate me :smileytongue Just change your hunting style.

Nah, I have good tactics and all, but my snare just never landed yesterday... but before I logged last night I noticed that my toolbar was messed up a bit and snare was now in a slot I don't use often. So, I bet I wasn't landing snares because I was never actually firing them... would explain the " O for... " streak I was on don't you think? I'm going to go out and try again today with things corrected... I bet my results are back in line with what you are reporting.

Lol, yeah that would explain it. You need to hit the right button. Ever mistakenly hit full auto area while hunting krayts? Yeah, not pretty.

don't worry they nerfed our lunge so we wont be getting closer to you as fast as before

if their plan was to nerf lunge and nerf snares and roots, kinda seems like they should have just left both alone, basically what they might have done is the same thing as quiting smoking then picking up chewing tabacco.

My snares were landing fine but my KD was not. Snare was 90% and KD 30%, rough estimate. Don't have a root so can't tell you that. This was hunting Krayts, killed 50+ today. (With 1 jedi and another Rifleman) not solo.

How about forgetting to release the extra key and calling your BARC speeder instead of last ditch while fighting a nightsister, That is not pretty

It's funny you mentioned this. I noticed the exact same thing with Pikeman. All of a sudden I did less damage than before with the same exact weapon and hits. My defenses too seem to drop as I missed more often and got nailed harder than before. It's good to see that I'm not going insane here, despite what my guildies say.

i went looking, and could not find it. perhaps i will find it at home, but it was CLEARLY stated that they DO NOT want people soloing Krayts so they gave them a huge boost.

this is NOT to say people haven't found ways of doing it, but it was the intent of the dev team to make krayts much MUCH harder.

yes combat has changed. i am not saying our characters play exactly as they did before the CU. that would just be utter non-sense, but i KNOW i read in more than one place that krayts would be made more difficult, so don't feel like it is entirely your own falut
