Thread: Carbineer in PvP

I'm thinking about returning to PvP after a long absence, but I dont want to go for a FOTM template. I'm currently weighing up my options and a defense stacked Carbineer is one of them.

How does a Cabineer fair in PvP these days?

Rough.

If you're going pure Carbineer, you're going to be looking for a fast DXR6 and as many Carbine Speed and Accuracy while Moving tapes as you can get your hot hands on. Buffs are a must, and your state effects are your only real shot. I personally PvP at a burstrun to start with and pray like hell I've either got support or a dead opponent by the time I'm tired.

Composite is your worst nightmare. At 70-90% resists to just about everything, you're ability to do damage is terribly hindered, meaning you're weapons are preferably speed sliced to get you're rate of fire up.

Its not impossible, but due to a number of mitigating factors, its a LOT more difficult to compete in PvP than it should be.

You will see just what it takes to compete against all but the most serious CM's....

I honestly doubt many other Carbineers on ANY server have all the top end pieces of the puzzle that I do so most won't have the easy success that I do.

Now if I could just find some more Counterattack and Accuracy While Moving AA's for my second suit.... If anybody on Chilastra has some I have around +20 Speed extra to trade....WOOT

I've got a +5 acc while moving I think. I'd be willing to trade for speed once I get back.

1: Get good carbines with good ideal range and yeah DX rocks

2: get good food AND learn when, how, where to use it...

3: get good armor and you require stun armor too... macros to switch between them

4: hunt hunt hunt hunt hunt hunt and shop.... Get dot carbines.. I now have a few dot carbine and it does a difference..

5: Learn every skills and when, where, how to use it... ScatterShot ownz trandoshans (you didn'T know ? )

6: pvp, duel, pvp, duel, pvp and duel... until you know how to react until you understand when it's good to press peace, clear, change posture, burst, run, stop, move, prone, kneel...

7: you should be doing good after that hehe... I own in pvp and of course I might not do alot of damage and I might be a doctor to help my pvp skills but... In many tournaments and duels.. I do pretty good too It's all about your equipement.

I hate to point it out, but defense stacking is synonymous with "FOTM". But that's simply because defense stacking is somewhat more useful than raw damage in PvP these days. If you don't get hit.. you don't die. That said, if you wanna stack on the Defenses, you have two to three viable options.. with a bit of lee-way.

Master Carbineer/ Fencer 4440 / Pistoleer 0043/ nov med (?)

This is aimed at those whoprimarilyuse Carbines. Keep in mind that this is ONLY useful if you have +25carbine speed SEAs, or close to it.Sorry, but it's just like that. At that Fencer level, you're missing out on about60-80 accuracy I think, which hurts in PvP, and +10 in speed, which will make you hitabout twice as slow as the Master level. Hence.. equipping a Stun Baton will NOT be your prime damaging tactic.. you'll need to rely on solely carbines.

You can substract some of the Pistoleer defenses (from around 80 down to 40 on most stats) and go TKA.. something like 4004 or 4003 TKA. This gives you meditate.. a good way to cure those poisons if you can burstrun to safety (or managed to take out your opponent and have time to meditate..), Powerboost, Force Of Will (uber in PvP) and of course, close to if not capped Ranged and Melee Defense.

Again, I only recommend this if you want to use your Carbines about 80-90% of the time.. and of course, have such carbines/SEAs on you. Equipping a Fencer weapon and running a CoB macro is useful only when running or getting close to someone.. but you'll need to switch back to Carbines and sacrifice that defense boost to do damage.

Master Carbineer / Master Fencer / TK 4003 / nov med (?)

A bit like the top one, except that the fact that you have Master Fencer gives you a 'melee' advantage in PvP, at the expense of good secondary defenses. With this template (currently mine), you will be using your Carbine (+25 speed recommended, but not required with a good speed krayt tissue / form-fitted scopeand a speed slice) and your Stun baton roughly equally.

Tactics involve the use of your Stun Baton in hand to open up fights if you are in range, intimidating and warcrying.. maybe using a few Janta knives.. then switching to Carbine to land massive states and fast.. and a Dizzy/KD if you can. Of course, against different players, you can open with the Carbine at a distance, etc. This is a more 'solo' PvP template.. and is simply kick-ass in duels. You've got Ranged Mitigation 3 and Melee Mitigation 3, and an acklay stun baton in hand will usually outdamage a carbine unless your opponent is very well prepared, at which point, your best bet is to KD them and rely on others to dish out damage.

This template shines in smaller group PvP.. but will easily get lost in large scale PvP (groups of 12-15 vs 12-15 for example...) The benefit is that you can run with a Stun Baton in hand and run a CoB macro and rarely get hit.. and still have a viable damage tool to hurt others with.

Master Carbineer / Master TK / some Fencer or Pistoleer / etc.

This is more geared to PvE.. if you plan on doing that. The above mentionned templates aren't that high-damage dealing against high resist mobs.. as you can tell. Fencers can't hurt the high-level stuff, like Carbineers. But I'm sure you've seen TKs in action in PvE, heh.

I don't usually recommend TK for PvP, since Fencer is downright better.. but the advantage is that while sacrificing defenses.. you do get a mind specfic hit and KD and Dizzy moves to use at close range. This is great in PvP.. if you have the armor, buffs and foods to survive as a TK.

Best of luck!

Master Carbines, 4004 CM, and 4030 Doc. Master Rifleman, 0404 Carbineer, and 4030 Doc. Both of these templates rock in pvp. Yeah I now the 2nd one isnt MC, but still very good. Add some DOT's to 2nd template and your a killing machine. Defenses dont mean **edit** in pvp anymore, its all about DOT's. So I am blind? I heal it off in 1 second with havla. Next!

You'll need some BH IMHO unless you have millions to buy some good SEAs.
