What's it good for if I dont have the certification?

Coords to my shop are: Dantooine -4723 -2755, closest starport is Imperial Outpost.

Thats the point. You don't need a certification atm. So the SlugThrower is perfect to make the first 4 Carb Boxes of the Marksman Line.

Danm, and I thought it was something good that you can use at advanced levels...cause Im advancing BH carbines.

Nym's slug-thrower is nice, but it is generally out-classed by a good DXR-6. Right now, the biggest benefits are the ability to quickly level marksman carbine skills and the ability to hang it on the wall.

I disagree that a DXR6 outclasses a Nym slugger. The Nym has slightly higher speed, but with +90 carbine speed who cares about ~0.2 seconds? The HAM is also higher, but I spend so much of my time buffed nowadays it doesn't have an impact. The max damage is significantly higher though.

I have acquired a Nym Slug-Thrower and compared it to my DXR6. My DXR6 is faster, has lower HAM costs, AND does more damage than the Nym Slug-Thrower (although the Slug-Thrower is unsliced). If I were to get a nice damage slice to it, perhaps it would be slightly better than a DXR6. Perhaps...

What type of damage does it do?

You really can't compare a sliced weapon with an unsliced weapon. I got a good damage slice on a Nym, sand it has since replaced a DXR6 with a good damage slice.

Maybe carbineers are just resistant to change. I remember being told on these forums long ago that the only reason to use a DXR6 was for the cool green bolts.

Um...that slug thrower sucks. Did any of you notice that the idea range bonus is 0 ??? Meaning you will miss a hell of a lot more than any compitant DXR6even if it dosent have a nice scope on it. Its a trophy and thats about it. Its only good for novice marksman untill you get a DH17 lol.

Funny, I don't miss. Then again, +155 carbine accuracy will do that.

Never mind. i see in another thread that it's acid.

Acid. Hence the numerous comparisons to the DXR6, which also does acid damage.

However, I must admit, the Nym Slug Thrower is one of the coolest looking (and firing) weapons in the game.

Huh??? That thing is meant for point blank. Look at your ranges a little more closely. Its the only gun I have in my inventory that gives me a reasonable chance to hit off the end of the muzzle.

As far as high ham goes. Well its manageable compaired to my "sniping" laser carbine at 75/98/72. Of course with a 32%max damage 16%min damage powerup the thing has amax minof 502-105 and a speed of 3.3. And base damage is 384-92 without the powerup. That is one weapon that must be used with muon and d buffs or you will kill yourself in about 4 shots.

Damage is roughly compairable to the dxr6 and the elite. No complaints there. Mine sliced for speed and shoots at 2.8. So it will outdamage my dxr6 over time. But per hit the dxr6 will do slightly more.
