There is no way just one or even two people can experience everything Carbineer in SWG......so I am asking each one of you to think about helping me update the FAQ. If you feel you are well versed in a particular area or even just have general tips/feedback then please post here or even start a new thread on your topic.

The FAQ to me is a compilation of MANY Carbineer opinions so the more people we have helping with this the better it will be for all.....hell even I really enjoy reading the posts from you folks already to learn more about Carbineer and individual play styles......don't be shy, lets make the CU FAQ even better than pre-CU

Well without active participation from all of you, the FAQ won't get an update for quite some time......I am starting a new job in a city 4 hours away.....have a new baby that is 11 days old......and moving my family/house to the new job in 7 days. But even after all of that when I do get time again the idea is not to have the FAQ created by me, just organized and verified by me.

So no more whiners about the FAQ being out of date until you folks get off your arses and help

The problem in this is, currently few people (if any) have full understanding of everything yet.

Consider:

  • several specials are considered bugged or redundant,so a final statement on those can't be given yet. (Especially considering that you said that suppression fire just i getting changed and you want to get scatter shot and rapid fire to be changed, too... )

  • many functions of the game are still unclear. (See the max damage vs. dps discussion... you said that weapon speed affects the cooldown timers, that's something i now put on my "to test" list, but generally my testlist concerns SL-features at the moment... )

  • PvP currently is a game of "we try", sometimes seems more like gambling than controling the situation. (Anybody got experience with anything over one-on-one duels?)

  • interactions between different classes are now deeper than "add up the maximum defence and finito". (So, before CU the Carbineer usually got BH-influence and that's it. Now you have the wildest combinations, harder to cover that all...)

As soon as i feel sure enough on what i am doing, i am ready to help... but i only made my MCarb after CU hit, so i can't be taken as a veteran with years of insight. (Though, pre-CU knowledge won't matter that much any more, i assume... so we're all in this together, with you having a bit of advantage, as you communicate with some Devs... )

The thing is, its hard to collect data in here.

You can copy and paste it into a other document of your choice, but since things change and information is spread it might get lost in long threads.

I propose we should put our knowledge in here : THE SWG WIKI - Carbineer

As soon as all information is collected TA can collect it there and make a FAQ of it and sticky it here.

Doing this in a Wiki everybody (who has a login) can add his knowledge about skills/specials/requistes/weapons/etc to the current status and we can react faster on changes and can document changes.

Just my idea....

I'm getting real good at hunting Krayts, Moks and large amounts of MOBs about my level. I can write a small guide on this if you wish...

Shouldn't there be a section in the new FAQ about working and broken/no longer existantSkill Mods of Carbineer? I still see loads of people auctioning CAs and AAs with mods like Aiming, Acc. while Moving and stuff. As aren't these all assumably non-existant post-CU?

Carbineer Skillmods on clothing, weapons and clothing/armor attachments

Working mods:

  • Carbine Accuracy

  • Carbine Speed

  • Carbine Defense - Adds to both Ranged and Melee Defense while holding a carbine.

Broken/non-existant mods Post-CU:

  • Carbine Aiming - Assumed to be non-existant due to it's removal from the skillboxes and it is unknown if this mod ever worked.

  • Carbine Accuracy While Moving - Assumed to be non-existant due to it's removal from the skill boxes and even Pre-CU it was debatable if this worked or not.

  • Counterattack - Assumed to be non-existant due to it's removal from the skill boxes and it seems that mod based defense rolls were removed in the CU (excluding Ranged and Melee defense,Innate Teräs Käsi and Jedi Armors and Force Defense).

Please remember thatall individual CA/AA mods have a cap of +25. This means that if you got an armor suit with armor attachments placed that give +30 Carbine Speed, it actually only adds +25.

Please correct me if I'm wrong in any of these. Just made this because I thought it might be nice to have in the FAQ and I was bored.

FAQ about Suppressionfire

How does suppressionfire work?

Suppresionfire is a spammable +snare+ attack that last 1-2 seconds but can be shot every one or two seconds, thus as long as you shot suppression fire your target will be +snared+ .

Working as a support skill, suppressionfire is a melee creature crowdcontrol skill , since it has a very large angle and its reported to work only in PvE (no conformation on this form my side sorry).

This ability is a stalemate for you and your targets. You wont do much damage to them, as they wont be able to hurt you very much.

How to use suppressionfire?

You use it when you are grouped.

You can control the movement of large group of creaturs without outdamaging any tanks in your group. You tanks in you group will keep the aggro while on the other hand the damage dealers can stay unharmed by the creatures you snare. There are some reports that if applied fast enough the snare will slow down the targets that they are hardly to move any at all (especially up hill).

Possible tactics:

Have several carbineers in your group, standing up hill. One/two are using suppressonfire aggroing all creatures limiting their movement while the other carbineers use fullautoarea to damage a large amount of creatures in the same cone, to take them down.
