Thread: Doctor/Carbine?

Hello, all.

I'm a Master Doctor, and I'm looking for a complimentary class.

I'm thinking Carbine guy. (Sorry, don't know the proper title... Carbineer? Carabineer? Carabiner? Caramello? Mello-Yello?)

I planned on having a Rock Beetle, for tanking help. I figure he'll live forever, with Stims getting dropped on him. =)

I'm told Carbine is good, except for the HAM costs. With the Stims, that won't be an issue.

So, what do you all think? I appreciate any advice you can offer.

doctor/carbineer is actually very viable. if you buff your secondary stats, the HAM costs drop to almost nothing. that counteracts on of the big weaknesses of carbineer. you'll be a challenge to just about any other profession in pvp, except those that target mind. (in that case, you'll want to wear your composite helm and have your mind buffed by food and entertainers. i'll assume that you already have your mind maxed out.)

I don't know about that. Maybe Carbineer is good, but from what I hear from people (and from actual Carbineers) it stinks.Carbineer special attacks are not good enough to justify all the work you have to do in the profession. If you would like my personal opinion, I think that Pistoleer is a more fun and also better class to choose.

Working on the last 4 blocks to be a Master Dr myself and when I get tired of the medical center I am working on Carbineer too. As I rack up the Carbine skills I am letting go of my Scout skills little at a time. Ironically I have a rock beetle too and with buffs and stimps he can take way more damage than my poor Probot

ham costs on carbine are not bad once your buffed. carbine are slower then pistols delaying heals a good bit. when your running you will pause to fire then can continue running. better damage then pistols but they have a few disadvantages . you also take 1.5 x damage from melee

I'm a Master Doctor as well, and finally have a few skills in carbineer too (about to get charge shot 1, whoo).

Anyways, yeah, if you can buff yourself, HAM costs become negligible, and I also have my own kahmurra to suck up damage on those medium difficulty creatures on Corellia.

I don't PvP much, but the few times I have I haven't performed extremely well, then again, I don't wear armor or anything I'm having fun otherwise though.

I'm a zabrak master doctor with carbineer 1-3-0-2 and I do very well in PvP. I never quite understand the carbineer complaints about HAM costs because my buffs and high willpower negate them. I'm always buffed, so I can use high-damage carbines with bad HAM costs without causing myself any pain. I can spam high-cost specials like Charge Shot 1 whenever I want.

I have beaten two bounty hunters and several commandos thanks to the combination of doctor buffs, zabrak racial abilities, muon gold and carbineer skills. I would recommend doctor/carbineer to anyone who likes the idea of carbines but hates the HAM costs.

I am master carbineer/master ch, and 4-3-4-0 in the medice tree. I use stim d with a base heal of 741 to heal my pets. I can solo kamis on lok easily by using a good tanking pet, and stacking the action bleeds. I once took down a krayt by doing that but it took about 40 minutes for it to bleed out, and every so often I would have to mask scent....run to my capped pet...heal it to full health.....have it attack again....stack the action bleeds again, and move out past 65 meters.......keep doing that as the bleeds wear off, and hope that mask scent dosen't fail. The pet I used was a gurreck.

I'm a Carbone/Doc.

I don't have any problems at all.

Also remeber, before writing off a profession, remember... they are all being worked on... If a lot of stuff is broken now, it won't always be so.

If you like the idea of using a carbine use it.

People currently shift around a lot based on fixes and nerfs. Stick with something you like, and let it shift around you... especially if you are casual or semi-casual as a player. Jumping around takes a lot of XP. No profession will suck in the end... that would be a dumb way to design a game.

I use carbine effectivey, solo (without a pet of any kind).. and with 1 friend.. all the time... I am more effective if he is tanking though. The posture stuff is whacky right now, but the damage shots are still good.

I too am a human master doctor and use buffs to negate the hams but my only problem is, to be a good doctor i need to have those **edit** 15 skill points in artisan, which stop me from reaching master carbine

I dropped Carbine for Pistol for these reasons:

1 - Delays are considerably more for the carbine. This keeps me from doing my primary job, healing.

2 - You are unable to shoot and scoot effectively. When that critter agros you and you want your pet to get the agro, you start running right? Well w/the carbine you will stop every so often to shoot and this really messes w/your strategy

3 - Rock beetle does almost all Health dmg. WIth a pistol you have health bleeds and more health attacks.

4 - Pistol HAM costs are much lower, less time healing your own HAM and more time healing your pet/buddies.

5 - Melees get a large advantage on the carbineer when attacking them in to hit and damage.

Those are the reasons I dropped it for the pistol.

see MusashiwolfStorm. In there lies the problem. You just call your pet and buff him. He tanks for you. Can you do that to a PC melee? not like you can for pets.

But Doctor is pivotal in PvP arena.

Go pistol. It is a large class so they get everything fixed often.
