from the description of this skill ... I'm not exactly sure of the intended effect... what exactly does this do? is it a short mez or root of some kind?
and what weapon qualifies as an automatic? I'm assuming a carbine of course =P

Suppression Fire is a4-6 sec cone snare that is meant to be spammed at the enemy group to keep them slowed down.
As for automatic weapons... Well, it's currently bugged, so all weapons work with it. But if they will ever fix it, it will prolly be carbines only.
More info about Suppression Fire here.

i can only get rapid fire to work with a carbine. so I guess that one is working right.

yeah i didnt know this was a carb skill at first, just thought i had a basic level of it from a tree of some secondary profession. it does however works quite well if you want to kite mobs of melee npcs (was usefull for running Aakuan missions) it only last 2seconds but if you use it every few shots while doing an area shot (Improved FullAuto) it will snare them enough to keep them all from attacking you at once. Its not a great skill but used properly it can be very usefull.

Actually in case i want to use it, i put it at auto attack and fill in the other shots in between.
For me personally that's the only way i ever found it to be useful at all.
Devs say "working as intended", Sylow answers "intended funcitonality is lacking for my personal taste". But as i assume that Devs won't listen to little Sylow in t his case, i guess we have to learn to live with it.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the duration is so short for the sole purpose of making it less useful to a single player. If the duration of the snare was longer then damage could be put out a lot faster and carbineer would be the undisputed champ of the xp grind.

Suppression Fire is just fine....although I asked for 4 seconds so we could alternate Full Auto Area and Suppression Fire, but I knew it would get shot down before I asked since it would be so overpowering.

Yes it would.. I was just using it on sum aggro.. works pretty well.. if i use suppression fire a few times in a row i have enough distance to do sum AOE's. although .5 more seconds would be nicer

its sweet, cause you can spam it. even though it doesn't last long, it doesn't take as long before it can be reapplied.

I find that suppression fire gives me just enough time to type in burstrun and book it the other way.
