Thread: Questions I should not ask warning: rumors ...
August 19, 2003
- T-21 Rifle - Reduced armor piercing class from heavy to light
- T-21 Rifle - Increased fire rate
- T-21 Rifle - Reduced the overall damage per second
August 22, 2003
- T-21 changed (again)
- Armor piercing raised to Heavy
- Max Damage raised to 200..375
- Min Damage raised to 80..115
- Attack Speed raised to 65..105
- Zero Range Mod lowered to -70
- MaxRange Mod Raised to 10
- Armor piercing raised to Heavy
If the rifle professions speed had remained at 65, they'd be balanced with carbineers and pistoleers. In my opinion thebalancing process will still be done by players, the squeakiest wheels will get the grease, and the rest of us will be hosed again, with plans for CURB2early in '07. They make changes too rashly, and too severely. Then in the effort to re-balance they over compensate, leaving the rest of the community to wallow in their own self pity.
The news that the Alpha never happened is a little frightening. I won't look up the JTL balancing they did, but they did get JTL out and it worked, but even now 6 months later it still needs some balance.

Will carbineers be effective in the game, will pistoleers? Will Rifles be balanced against bounty hunter dabblers of the prior two professions? Will the professions each have a distinct flavor in combat? And that's just the carbine based questions. Ideally they want to say Yes, Yes. No. Yes. But we were expecting those exact answers on release too. Can they with full certainty answer ideally? I don't have that much confidence I'm affraid.
I think TA was referring to the topic that the CU Beta is supposed to start next week (sorry if I'm putting words into your mouth TA). So if that happens, then yes, all of our question will be answered. Or at least those of us that get into the BETA.

None of us can begin to answer these questions without seeing the overall impact of the different classes on a large server population. Testing is one thing, live is another.
The answers you seek are pretty much impossible to formulate at this point, really.
ehm...
I know, don't ask questions, which nobody can't answere.
And I don't want to sabotage TAfirehawk works in keeping rumors down but
:-)
sorry
I'm just a curious human:
"ALPHA IS OVER!!!" ?
Oh, in case it get's deleted it's taken from the Commando Forum where a appereantly Commando Alpha Test let's off some steam, complaining about that he got a email (posted to the public) that says that the Alpha is over and that the open beta will start soon.
I'm not that upset as everybody else there, as I read this as our Alpha's were responsible to test/comment/feedback the CURB on paper only, not actually play it.
If they have a devoted a whole Team to playtest the alpha and as TAfirehawk said the design papers are already that great and that the balancing just might need some time I think the sooner they start with that/the beta, I don't see any problems.
I'm not even sure if that what he wrote is a fake or not.
And that's why I'm here.
TAfirehawk?
Or am I agan asking questions I should not ask?
.

TA I feel for you man, sound like a broken record...but with more angst in your post, are you getting discouraged? If so that's a shame whatever caused it, you and novamarine will be models of corespondents for years. I know I sound like a brown noser, lol, but I came back to carbineer because I felt it had great corespondent and had the best chance of any of the professions to become its fullest potenetial.
Well I am mostly tired of reading posts asking about the CU.....not discouraged being Corr here at all.
And after things get rolling with the CU by the end of next week we shall all be quite busy knee deep in it all ![]()
Of course with such a short timeframe now we might need to scale back our opinions of what it will look like when it first goes LIVE....BUT I still maintain the foundation of the new system in the CU is much easier (on paper) to tweak and balance and add things down the road.....so lets hope future publishes after the CU can quickly fix things (unlike LIVE now that has taken 2 years to fix).
