Thread: Any successful slumords..err landlords out there?
lol, cool idea. I'd never thought of it, but it could work. artisans could use it for storage or even an exstra shop and you could bann them if they fell behind on payments, plus they couldn't redeed as long as you remained the owner.
Cool, idea, defenetly bring a new level to the game.
Though I'd feel like Don Naughts from threes comany ![]()
The second problem is simply that a house is so cheap to buy that its not an obstacle to most people. If it were translated into an ingame price comparable to real world prices, then I suspect a small home would cost around 1m credits, a medium around 5m, and a large around 20m or so. At this point, renting might become more viable.
As it stands right now, I suspect your only market might be for people who are a) new and have almost no money, b) Crafters who want to maximize their harvester lots and will pay to rent your house lot.
I would think there might be more money in speculation. Buy a house, set it up and equip it with everything, furniture, decorations, optional crafting stations etc, then sell it for 100k to someone who wants a house and they get the whole package without having to track it all down themselves. I think some people might like that as a service.
i have heard of people doing something slightly different...renting vendor space in houses in high traffic areas like outside theed and coronet.
in that case, you only need put the person on admin long enough to drop a vendor which means the owner still gets the storage space. the merchant gets a good spot for a vendor. and i have not heard many exploiting complaints about it ![]()

Except the store owner can't remove the vendor. While I've heard some scamming involving the admin access, I've quite a number of complaints about people who were initially allowed to set down vendors but refused to get rid of them when they wore out their welcome.
yeah can't imagine that there isn't a way to abuse any system involving building access, and i can't believe such things have never happened, just haven't heard of it happening much ![]()
lets face it, any deal like this would have to be with people you trust. the system just doesn't allow for anything else
The idea has some merit, though I agree that the trust thing would be difficult to overcome. I do rent lots from a RL friend of mine, but I use it for additional factories. I think that would be a safer market for you.
It would have to be a high-volume crafter (or a temporary need for extra production capacity) to make it pay off for the renter. As the renter, I would have little concern about renting a factory for production use. I would never use that for storage of any kind, so you would likely have to be quite mobile since most people would likely only need the capacity for a short time.
As a comparison, I pay my friend a couple hundred k or so per lot per week (paid monthly in advance). I based that figure on an estimated amount of credits he could earn by contract harvesting with those same lots. The only issue I have with this is that he gets the email notifications when the factory shuts down instead of me. I only do full runs in those factories and always run them in lock step with one of my own so I can just use that email as a general signal that all of the factories of that type are complete...
