I cancelled my account in May 2004 and decided to come back and have some fun. I find though that the trade skills and some professions are becoming more useless. I think some of this has hurt my view of this game as it does not seem realistic anymore... Examples

1. Whats with speeders not being able to det destroyed? That was a cash flow for me when I use to be a master Artisan.

2. Whats with this you are not going to decay houses in the future and pack them up for people? (Glad I am not an architect as your source of income just got depleted.)

3. What happened to battle fatigue? (I thought this was the most realistic part of the game. After being drained out during long battles, it was great to sit in the cantina to relax. Now I hardly see people in the cantinas.

4. Droid Engineers... I use to be a Master DE and I made tons of money selling medical droids and what not. I have not seen anyone using droids lately except for bounty hunters.

5. Doctors... I rarely see anyone in a Medical Center anymore. Whats the use of these buildings?

I think that these changes are being made to face the problems of a dying server population.. But in the end to address these issues, I believe you lost the main fundamentals of an MMORPG that allows people to enjoy the game. All I mainly see now are Bounty Hunters (Which I am one) and Jedi running around. Lets bring back the actual environment and realism to this game developers!!

That is only true for the BARC speeder. The rest still have to be replaced. And BARCs are supposed to need a master artisan made repair tool to be made usable again. So, in theory artisans should still be making credits off of BARC speeders. It's a bug (that should hopefully be fixed soon)that BARCs can be brought back from the dead for free at any vehicle garage.

2. Whats with this you are not going to decay houses in the future and pack them up for people? (Glad I am not an architect as your source of income just got depleted.)

Not sure what you are complaining about here? Houses have never had decay, unless you leave the game for a year without paying the maintenance up. And thus houses have never been a big income for architects.

Plus, people don't buy new houses to move. They just take the items out of the house, store them somewhere like a factory, and move the house they already own. The new "pack up" ability will just make moving less tedious. It doesn't change the architect's situation at all as far as I am aware.

3. What happened to battle fatigue? (I thought this was the most realistic part of the game. After being drained out during long battles, it was great to sit in the cantina to relax. Now I hardly see people in the cantinas.

Agree with you here. It was an interesting game mechanic, which I'm sorry to see removed. They need to add some more kinds of entertainer buffs to make up for it, imo.

4. Droid Engineers... I use to be a Master DE and I made tons of money selling medical droids and what not. I have not seen anyone using droids lately except for bounty hunters.

Agreed, droids need to be made more useful. But then, that hasbeen a running problem since the start of the game. It's nothing new.

5. Doctors... I rarely see anyone in a Medical Center anymore. Whats the use of these buildings?

When have doctors ever used the medical centers? Except for maybe the first month or two of the game, I wouldn't say it was common to eversee doctors there. As soon as people started using medical droids early in the game they moved out. And besides the holo-grinders healing the /afk tumblers, they never came back.

1. Whats with speeders not being able to det destroyed? That was a cash flow for me when I use to be a master Artisan. As has been said already, Barc are the only ones that don't destroy. Plus, you can sell Barc repair kits ... whats the difference between selling a swoop and a repair kit?

2. Whats with this you are not going to decay houses in the future and pack them up for people? (Glad I am not an architect as your source of income just got depleted.) The only time I've ever bought new housing was during my move from naboo to lok and such .... Plus, housing never sold for more than 2-5 cpu/resource used ... As was already said, not a huge source of income anyway.

3. What happened to battle fatigue? (I thought this was the most realistic part of the game. After being drained out during long battles, it was great to sit in the cantina to relax. Now I hardly see people in the cantinas. /agree

4. Droid Engineers... I use to be a Master DE and I made tons of money selling medical droids and what not. I have not seen anyone using droids lately except for bounty hunters. What's the difference from before cu? The only time I saw people using droids then was BH's (few and far between), Doc's (constantly), and Crafters (portable crafting stations). Now I see tons of BH's everywhere using droids, no docs, and a few crafters ... the quantity hasn't changed much it seems just what sells ...

5. Doctors... I rarely see anyone in a Medical Center anymore. Whats the use of these buildings? I was a doc from launch til cu ... I Never used a PCmedical center (thanks to my droid) and only used NPC med centers when I was a noob.

If you want environment, join a roleplaying guild/city ....

Well instead of answering your questions which others have done here's my two cents. I play two accounts one combat one crafter. What i'm seeing is more of going away from crafting and being like other games. But in my opinion it's one of the most unique things about the game the crafting is much more then other games. It's a player based economy. I for one enjoy that about the game. I don't mind them adding stuff besides player based but honestly i'd like them to add schematics instead of actual items that way keeps everyone happy. Don't make the stuff so hard to get that it's way out there in price but make it so you need a crafter to make the stuff. SOE needs to understand that crafting is a major pull to play the game for alot of people and for those that don't enjoy that aspect there's the combat to enjoy. It wouldn't be that hard to keep both parties happy with the game. Honestly right now not sure what they are doing. It's one of those times where those that truelly believe in the game and how much fun can be just have to be patient and see what they are planning. It seems we are all in the dark right now as to the direction of the game. Just hope that thier plan makes for a very enjoyable experience. And welcome back old timer

Fundamentally, what has happened is this (and I am paraphrasing Fishermagi, who made the analogy first)... The game economy has gone from one of interaction-based capitalism (where players made EVERYTHING for each other and the economy was a major element of the game) to one of Kill-Loot-Trade medievalism.

In a nutshell, that is what has happened. All of what you ask about is the result of this fundamental change in game design.

Not exactly true. The Flash Speeder can get destroyed, but you just need to pay $20k more to the game to get another one.
