The only problem I would see is the temptation to move from ingame credits to real life compensation. Otherwise you may run into Intelectual Property rights. Not only of the other players toons in the movie but the Sony and LucasArts IP. I am not a lawyer and IP rights discussion always end up in neither side agreeing with the other.

My name is Phill'p Malvatine and my Brother Maycer Malvatine and I playon theEclipse server. Yesterday we were editing one of our videos when it hit us! Why don't we make in-game movies and sell them!
Our Business Idea is really simple. People pay us in-game credits and we'll make an in-game video of what ever they want and send it to them via-internet or if we become really ambitious enough, via-mail with a DVD.
The video would probably be of guild events, or a recruiting video for guilds or cities. Of course - you can have the video be about anything you would want since you are paying. In addition - it could only be people on the Eclipse server (for now).
The video's would be well put together and look very professionally done. We did do a test run and a test version of what the video would look like. This example, however, is a test version and is only a Music Video (no dialog or real theme to it.). So understand that the quality and time put into this video is a grand total of 1 1/2 hours and was meant to be an example version only.

Because our example video is 38 MB in size - we can not post it up on the internet (or at least our website wont allow us to hold that much information - if you know how to put it up - please tell us). So I've put it up on limewire as one of the files that I am sharing. If you interested in watching it - open up limewire and the title is "Aggressive Negotiations"
If someone could tell me a better way to putthe video up for preview - i would much appreciate it.

So here's the part where you put your two cents in.
Do you think this could be a viable business?
Do you think this could be a viable business?
Ifyes - how much do you think a resonable price would be per video?
Thanks for your time.

P.S. If you've ever watched Fett's Vette - the video's would be just like that - only better

If you need hosting I could help
. I have a server that I'm willing to set up an account for you with starting 300MB. You could pay me in videos or game credits

that....is a sweet idea. Sounds like a lot of work, but I think the reward would be more than just in credits.

Ya may want to see about the Legals on this. Not to sure but get permission from SOE LA on it. Ya could find yourselves Banned or worse in Fed Court. CW Laws are rather Strange on Inet stuff and Lucas is like Coke (the cola) with its Products.

Good idea. I don't know how much demand is for something like this. Prices should be in the millions of credits per film. You could have a flat hourly fee to cover your time just to shoot the raw video and then charge more for extras like fancy editing.
I wouldn't be worried about getting sued for the license as long you keep it to in game credits. Theres tons of fan films out there and nobody is suing them.

Put them into a theatre and start charging to see them and that may change. Just saying, be very careful you dont cross the ingame - outgame compensation boundries.

Ya and the sentence right before that I had said:
"I wouldn't be worried about getting sued for the license as long you keep it to in game credits."
I'm not disagreeing with you. I was just pointing out he shouldn't need to worry assuming its just for in game credits.
Nowhere did he say anything about real world money. And he did say specifically in the OP that he'd sell them for "in game credits".
