I have an idea the might help with the economy and client stability.
Create a new terminal that can be placed in NPC and Player Cites.

The online news terminal.

Vendors can post ads (for a fee).
Mayors can recruit residents (for a fee).
Guilds can recruit residents (for a fee).
etc.

Now I know there are forums online for this but that looses some
of the immersion factor.

oh agree agree very much so. it might cut down on the spam...something like Coronet Classifieds or the Bestine Business Section or soemthing....just terminals with job offerings, recruiting offers, ads for shops, ads for items, so interesting...good concept

It would be nice to be able to go to a terminal like that and just see who is selling what, without having to hit all the starports. Might eliminate some of the Starport spam too It would make it easy for players looking to see who is actively recruiting etc. I like this idea

auction chat is just spam over and over....this idea would be like Joe places an ad one time and goes about his business or doesn't hav eto stay logged in...decreasing lag too

Well wouldn't the cntrl+v map show this?

I really don't see a real need for this in the game. Yes get rid of the spammers please.(but we have ways to do that and it involves a launcher pistol)

All I really want is flood control for chat options. Much the same as IRC has. If someone says something too many times within a certain period of time its considered a flood and they are auto-ignored.

Better you can place a ad and SPAM at the same time to get even more customers, residence, ect. Cause without a /macro fix SPAM will still exist.

this is an AWESOME idea, it's great for people to advertise their new vendors that aren't on the map, increase traffic, cut down spam, everything. I LOVE this idea, absolutely amazing, good for old and new players. You could even do a price per day per length thing, and reduce the cost with merchant skills.

The idea of having a terminal for this kind of thing is a very good one. Players that *want* that kind of infomation can get to it; players that *don't want* spam don't have to listen to it. The only problem I see is it degrading into the same shout and spam: or endless /bumps depending on the advertizing method.

I hear over and over again from players that use the shout and spam method of advertising say that they do three times the business than when they don't spam. Maybe it's true, maybe it isn't. All I know is that they manage to annoy a ton of players who hate that kind of thing. While the official SOE definition of spam is repeating the same thing in a thirty-second time frame, my definition of spam is much higher. Depending on how many people are shouting outside of the starport (too many and I go nuts with the /addignore feature), the time frame for me is generally <1 minute.

In my opinion, which may only be my opinion alone, macroing needs to get hit very hard with a nerf bat. Like a stormtrooper slapping you down after saying "Long live the Rebellion!" For too many people, SWG is a game you can play without even being there.

I run a very successful business, and I've never had to shout a thing. I get customers by giving good service and staying well-stocked. I have not macroed my way to any profession mastery. And I've enjoyed every bit of it. I don't say this to make myself "look better" than anyone else; that's just how I preferred to play it and it didn't take me from launch until now to do it. I only say it as proof that macroing isn't the only way to go.
