Thread: SWGAuction.com .... Why does nobody use this?

Many posts have complained about having to use the forums to auction things, and having the bazaar limit you to 6k credits, but there are other solutions out there.

If more people would use a site like this then people would be able to rate each other (like all those guys who withdraw their auctions because they didn't get the price they wanted), and it would be easier to monitor the auctions.

It would only take a small percentage of each server to start using this before it caught on. I would recommend that instead of posting your auciton in the trade forums, link to your items on swgauction.com and get that place active. Unless of course there is some other reason people won't use this site, I just figured that it was unknown to the public.

this might not be what everyone agrees with but i'm going to say it.Mostly, for me, it comes down to credibility.

reason 1... i NEVER bid on something from a "New Player" that has like 15 posts, even if it's an "uber" item... if its an uber item it means a couple things.... 1 they made a new station account to post it because their other account is not reputable, or 2, they never bothered using the forums until they looted so called "uber" item. If I can't trust you i'm not going to bid no matter how uber or cheap it is, and if you don't have the time to come around here once in awhile to check the forums for any reason, I have no time for you.

Blah blah rating system blah blah, sorry but that's what it is to me...I have my own rating system. It's called I buy it from you and make sure you pay up, and if you don't I let my guild know and never buy from you again. This game is too big for a rating system cause someone could easily get p!ssed off and flame someone.

Basically, I have my reasons, 99% of all off server auctions are on the boards and they are functioning just fine for me. Nothing against swgauction.com, i'm sure that if a lot of people used it i'd take it more seriously but I spend most of the time here while i'm at work and it works just fine for me.

coming from a new poster but not a new reader on this forum, I dont really ever post here becuz for the most part, all people do on this forum is moan about how horrible the game is. I appreciate the people who come up with these great ideas, but alot of people than just wind up talking about how broken this game is. U shudnt just judge people on there post number, thats truly just kinda dumb. Judge people on what they post. Quality over quantity

Without a doubt, credibility is an important factor in the auction process. However, I don't equate post count with credibility. Many contributors to the trade forum have half their post counts attributable to /bumps. While this clearly indicates an interest in staying on top of their on-going auction, it doesn't really indicate the level of their personal integrity. Moreover, a post count standard for active partipation would only serve to increase board trolling without any real added value to the community.

A better indication of a players trading integrity might be developing a "bad-trader" string. This option, however, is fraught with its own problems. Long-term players seem to police themselves and the forums quite effectively.

i can only assume you are referring to my post, and i can certainly understand. i'm not saying that ifyou have 1000 posts you are more credible than someone with 10 posts. what i AM saying, is that someone that says "new player" with 10 posts is a lot less credible than say a poster that's a Sr Member with 50 posts. i don't go "he doesn't have 100 posts i'm not bidding," I go "hmm a new player with 10 posts...... i'll sit this one out"
