Do trade routes have a place in SWG?

Conceptually I believe that established lanes of trade in space and on the ground would fit well into the galactic civil war. The Imperials would do their best at guarding trade lanes and the rebels would do their best and disrupting and capturing convoys. The downside is that I see it as a fairly difficult thing to implement into the current crafting/business model. Thoughts?

Maybe have a way of putting large amounts of resources from harvestors on a different planet into your ship, like a cargo freighter...not sure what you can do about weapons/armor, but that's what I can think of for resources and stuff.

Perhaps we could try the following:

Instead of completely re-coding the economy the devs could create a component/schematic forthe factional armor and/or future craftable factional buildings which needs to be obtained either by successfully escorting an imperialconvoy to faction component/schematic dealer, disrupting a convoy and redirecting it to a rebel faction component/schematic dealer, or just trading faction points with the component/schematic dealer.

In the later scenario, the faction point price of the schematic/component would be dictated by howmany successful convoys made it to the imperial or rebel dealer on a weekly basis.

I see these missionsavailableon the ground as well as in space.
