Thread: Economy is not broken: Example
That's not true, because the term poor is relative. Everyone could live totally content with all their needs met, and the person with the least money would still be poor. But that economy would certainly not be broken. Becausemoney is so amazingly easy to get in swg and there is little inflation, I would say that the economy isn't broken.

I started playing again in september. When I logged on the firt day after a year long hiatus (played the very first day, left after a few days) I had 35k in my acount. Now I have over 24mil which is still a bit paltry to alot on my server. I did this because I invested my money wisly, took some calcualted risks and always had a back up plan in case I lost some money. I made alot of my money in the beggining selling swoops in starports. I also sold thousands of generic crafting tools on bazaars for 6kea. One of my biggest noob success was the BH back packs. I bought these in bulk for 600k ea and sold them for 12kea and they sold so much I couldnt keep them in stock. Once I made my first few mil , I got better gear and starting investing my time searching for loot. Now I have enough money where I can live comfortably and pvp all day with out much finacial loss and my business makes up for my food/buff/armor/wep expenses.
Its all about making what you have work for you all the time.

This is the problem. Sellers have stuff to sell and buyers have no way to find it easily. Most people, including myself have 2 accounts, a crafter and a player. I keep the crafter account only to serve my own needs. I try and keep a vendor stocked with some items but really don't depend on making money through him. He is there to serve my needs instead of the me depending on the economy. I hate that. So the economy is broken because it's easier for players to just open a second account and craft their own goods than it is to deal with finding items players need on a regular basis.

Well as a customer I can say I have difficulty finding products. I am currently looking for some armor repair tools, none are available at my local mall and the last time I went looking for them I spent (wasted imo) 30 min browsing around vendors around coronet. I haven't gone out looking because frankly it's not worth my time. I can make the money needed to buy a new set of armor in 30 min no problem, so why would I want to go look for 30 to find something so difficult to find?

If you can send ingame gmails/tells you have a means to sell items, tt is quite easy to sell loot in bulk to crafters if you do it instead of complaining about how you can't. And it takes them 50 times the effort it takes a fighter to get and sell items for millions of credits. A master swordsmen/fencer can get more then that.

Being a Master Swordsman and Fencer, I do not have a vender or means to sell items.
A master merchant with master armour can sell hundreds of items crafted for millions of creds.
I get a maximum of 5k Per mission.

But people by nature are greedy and never satisfied. There will always be division between the relative rich and the relative poor because everyone strives to be at the top. The ones who arnt come up with excuses of why they are not and how it isnt fair. People dont often see the economy on what they need rather on what they want because what you need is really not much.
I'm not saying the economy is broken per-say, but in general economies are never ever perfect and thier is always someone who is at a disadvantage because of the system.
In RL there will never be an economy that suits everyone
IMO this economy is fine and it works.
The question is "If somthing works, can it still be broken?"

This can definitely be a problem. SOE is trying to address it with the galaxy wide vendor search system. That should make it a LOT easier for buyers and sellers to connect.
Until the price gougers burn out the crafting community that actually tries to participate in the galaxy wide search.
I'll take the hit if it doesn't bloom, but I seriously predict the removal of small crafters in the game. They'll try for about 2 months and give up because they'll see that it is a no-win situation since the only manner of sales they are allowed to have (at least in their mind) are controlled purchases from friends as some gouger is going to try and corner the market.
Wanna make me believe it's fair? Since I am FORCED to have public vendors, since I am FORCED to front the money for any consignment siutation, since I am FORCED to make verbal contracts not worth their salt, since I am FORCED to accept fraud both in the game and on the forums with no recourse, and since I am FORCED to give up my property rights at the drop of someone making a false accusation to a CSR, make it impossible for someone to buy from a particular vendor more than once a month.
