Today I saw on the forums:

Buffs 951 power crate of 5 (130 full sets buffs) for 300k 6 mouths ago this would have gone for 4mil easy

Uber doc recourses staring at 5cpu, 6 mouths ago this would have gone for 200cpu easy

CA’s and AA’s are about ½ price now

Uber weapons and weapon related stuff seems to be holding steady

I know that the free resource deed have a lot to do with it but OMG 5 cpu for doc resources. Players are panicking that all their uber, CA’s, AA’s, recourses, and buffs are going to be useless in the CU.

Yeah. I couldn't find a buff yesterday on Flurry. It's gonna be a rough month. ...especially on smaller servers.

Docs are not making buffs anymore because they will not be around after the CU. If they convert, it will prob be some crappy stuff...

well then it sounds like the perfect time to for docs to make some more cash, give out as many buffs as you can. people will still need them until the cu hits, they will not be as usefull then thank god. i have a master doc/sword on kauri and i make a killing like every other descent buffer, but even i think it's stupid and rediculous that players simply cannot servive anywhere in the galaxy without buffs (beside within 2000 meters of a newb city). it will become an enhancment instead of a neccesity, the way it should be. many thanks to the devs, good move

Sounds like a great money making opportunity. Assuming you can figure out which way the market is going to go up after the CU.

From initial testing, I would make the following recomendations..

  1. AS and Armor additives. This (At least initially) will be HUGE. Since types of armor carry forward in the CU, I would suggest current AS make a variety of armors NOW... Make them as good as possible, and those stats will carry forward to the new system. After the system changes, you'll have a full range ready to go (Without having to relearn under the new system)

  2. Getting Armor with Skill mods and Attachments on TC5 - Attachments will still be viable

  3. Harvesting of creatures = good money still. The AS will need these resources.

  4. Docs will STILL be "buffing" - Possibly at lowered pricing. Enhancers will be useful - But no telling WHAT they will need as yet.

Quote that sums up the current, flawed direction of SWG:

1) Unfortunately we have no idea how the armors will convert. You may end up using a lot of rare resources to make armor that is converted into junk. Also, most AS are geared up to produce high quality comp armor--they don't have the resources to make all the armors. Considering only a few professions will be able to wear comp armor after the CU, making lots of comp armor now probably isn't a good idea.

Also, it sounds like there will be only three 'cores' (recon, battle and assault) with the different types of armor fitting into one of these three categories. The different armors will be 'skins' that go over the appropriate cores. So although the armors may look different, they have the potential to have the same stats within their category (i.e. all the Recon armors have the potential to have the exact same stats). So, not knowing how things will convert, if you made a bunch of different armors, they may end up converting to junk, whereas if you wait you don't really lose anything.

Finally, there are hints that there may be new types of armor enhancers added after the CU. Pre-CU armors wouldn't be able to take advantage of these, if they do indeed exist (or will exist).

2) Skill attachments are still viable (for the most part), but be wary of buying them if already placed into armor. Again, most people use comp armor now, but only a few professions can use comp armor after the CU. So you may end up buying AAs placed into pieces of armor that your profession can't use after the CU--which effectively makes them useless. There's a thread in the AS forums that details which professions get which armors.

3) Agree. High quality resources (organic or inorganic) will always be valuable (unless and/or until SOE decides to completely change the crafting system).

4) Will Doc buffs be worthwhile after the CU? From what I've read, it's a max of +10% for long-term buffs (20% for short-term buffs). Sothat's +300 Health (if you're maxed out at 3000 Health). It seems hardly worth it to wait in line for just a 10% bonus, or even a 20% bonus for that matter.

My recommendations:

Acquire loot enhancers from high-end mobs that are relatively easy to kill know. For example, Krayt tissues and pearls, GDK scales, NS armor enhancers, etc. There is still some risk in this, in that we don't know how everything is going to convert. For example, will RIS armor still require GDK scales, given that the armor crafting system is changing so dramatically. Also, the base statsfor krayt tissues may change as well. So, for example, maybe a +90 krayt tissue won't be nearly as good as it is now. I think these are relativly minor risks, though.

Also, if you need experimentation tapes (or even if you don't need them), consider purchasing them now. I thinkas we get closer to the CU people will be spending less and less, sothere may end up beingfewer buyers driving demand. In addition, a lot of the NPCs that drop nice tapes will be more difficult to kill after the CU, so the supply will likely drop. Get them now while they are relatively cheap.

If you are risk averse, then hoard your cash (as a lot of players are starting to do, I think). Run as many of the high level missions as you can now, and hoard cash like a madman. Buy only what you need; economize wherever you can. After the CU, you likely won't be able to run equivalent missions without a group.

Well, some of this is true, some of it not, but untill release we just don't know. I have Full comp Armor and as of now I'm not going to expect some uber assault armor. I'll expect average. If its better great if its what i though good if its lower we have a problem.

What mods though Phaelyn? Are there still broken mods?
