Thread: 2 things this game needs to make business more fun!

Strong Buy:

  • Premium pearls and crystals. With ADKs, jedi have even more reason to get 12 -9 tunes. Jedi will still need these after the combat nerf, and they will be a lot harder to come by.

  • RIS components. There is a good chance that RIS will be very good after the upgrade.

  • High end Krayt tissues. Krayts take time to kill right now. After the upgrade, they will take an army. Ranged weapons are supposed to get much better. People will want uber versions of the new weapons.

  • Jet packs and Mando Armor. Think the DWB is hard now? Don't worry, it will be much easier after the nerf .

  • High end light sabre resources. More Jedi every 3 weeks. Go figure.

Buy:

  • Quality pearls and crystals. Not big sellers, but might become the staple after the nerf.

  • ADKs. Going up in value, but might suffer a nerf of some kind.

  • Good krayt tissues (less than +60).

  • Armor and Weaponsmith experimentation. Post nerf, people are going to be buying a lot of new armor and weapons as they switch armor and professions.

  • Droid Experimentation. Maybe combat droids will be good in the future.

Hold:

  • High end resources. These will probably keep their value in the future.

  • Doc and Chef experimentation. Doc will be getting a nerf, and are whispers that food will get one as well (though the devs say that food is already post nerf balanced).

  • High damage weapons. The devs might jimmy-kick the achievers, or they might have some type of % equivelancy so that good weapons are still good.

Sell:

  • Combat Skill Tapes. With the upcoming nerf, taps may loose much of their effectiveness. This is especially if the devs move away from the state intensive version of combat that exists now. Additionaly, there is talk that higher speed caps (rifles have a speed cap of 2 seconds for example). This will make speed tapes much less effective.

Strong Sell

  • DOT weapons. Rumors say that these are not going to be around for much longer.

  • Exceptional and Legendary weapons - extra, extra high damage. Lets face it folks, these are going to be nerfed. Right now is probably the optimal time to sell them, as there is still time before the nerf for buyers to want them, and ADK kits are still good to go. I really think that these weapons are going to be hit extremely hard by the nerf.

  • Amazing Armor. If you are not using it, Sell it. This is an almost gaurenteed Nerf.

A NPC comodities market. Blah. Ya, that would get old fast. However, the economy has already produced a comodities market. Right now i own 10 shares in premium pearls, and 15 shares in quality. I have 5 shares in ADKs, and am trying to grow that part of my port folio. I enjoy my dot weapons, but have little use for them since I do not PvP, so i am trying to turn them into ADK's. I will hold my high damage hammer and t21 because they help me increase my stock in pearls.

As for smugglers, i guess that is the E-bayers, credit dupers and NPC weapon exploiters. Lol, you want smuggler content, there you go (just kidding, don't do these, the csr's are pretty quick on the chase in these arena's. This is only provided as a humor bit).

I have been doing the stock and comodities market since i laid my first harvesters. Don't ask the devs to put something lame and contrived into the game when a better version already exists.

I feel a "stock market" would add something to the game to make the game feel more Star Wars. If you read the Expanded Universe books they mention the Imperial Stock Exchange a lot (in fact, Kirtian Loor crafted his message cypers using the daily price quotes off the Holonet). This would add more "immersion" in the game, would make people WANT to get in and see how their "portfoilo" is doing. Heck, they could even have "real" compaines from Star Wars on the exchange. You could sell 10k shares of Incom Starships and dump the profits in 50k shares of Novacom Holonet Inc. Would be coooooool.

I'm telling you man, it already exists. People buy and sell stuff all the time on the trade forums. Invest in pearls. Invest in ADKs. This isa real comodities market that has real forces that effect its movement. A NPC version would be completely contrived, and based on some lame dice roll to determine if you make or loose money. The comodities market that exists right now is based on real (well, electron real) items changing hands, not some lame random number table and value change equasion. The comodities market that exists is hella cool, you should check it out.

I doubt that a stock market would make the game more Star Warsy. Since you wouldn't be able to do research on companies and no way to check P/Es and annual reports, this would be little more than a variation on gambling.

Well resource speculation does exist, but that's not the same as a commodities market.

1. Commedities Market/ Stock market

2. Smuggler Trader Network

1. We need something where you can put money in, buy "shares" or "contracts" (shares are for stocks and contracts are for commedities) and make money that way. I read about that stuff all the time in the EU books.

2. The STN would be a terminal that would show who needs what where. You make money by mnaking the develivery. there could also be random NPCs that want stuff that can effect the GCW. Could be cool.

Sorta. In the commodities market, you don't buy literally bullion and bushels of wheat. You trade chits based on amounts of resources and shares of the companies involved in the production/refining process.
