Most of the examples given were commodities, the one exception being to subsidize a new crafter. That is not a commodity investment, but it is not a stock market investmenteither, more like venture capital to a privately-held company.
There could be a real stock market, but there won't be without some changes to game mechanics, in particular enforceable contracts. Just like RL history.

Theres a ton of company names for Star Wars in itself, but if it were to include the player companies and guilds, that would make one massive stock market. there could be terminals in cities. think about it! i cant think of any down side
suggestions? /signs? anything?

If you want a stock market, go put all your money on black in the coronet hotel. All an ingame stock market would be is another form of gambling. The only thing that makes the IRL stock market not gambling is you are dealing with real companies, and real market forces. An ingame market would be nothing more than a random number/event generator. Just like the wheel in the hotel.
If you want a stock market, go find a budding crafter, and offer to buy interest in her success. Give her 10 million, in exchange for 25% of all future profit. Buy 30 pearls and hold them through the combat nerf. Buy 2 million shares of lok wheat.

Also, buy krayt tissues, yellow geo cubes, GDK scales, Gurk King hides, Woolamander bones, Acklay bones, LS crystals and anything else that is looted from a tough mob. Get them while they're cheap now, because after the CU they will become a lot harder to obtain, and thus more rare (and more valuable).
