What do you think of this idea:

SWG Sportsbook

You provide a service where people can gamble on real life sports using SWG credits.

You get a vendor and then put named packs on it...for example Bills -3.5 over Jets 1 mil (price 1 mil) .. and another pack Jets +3.5 over Bills (price 1 mil)

So the gambler buys whichever pack he thinks would be the winner ... then if he wins he puts that pack back on the dropoff and you buy it back for 1.95 mil (5% juice)

Logistics to ensure everything goes right like checking the time/name it was purchased and comparing it to thesporting eventstart time/ player nameetc etc can be worked out.

Would this be a success?

Until someone just renames the pack to the winning side.

Better to stick with chance cubes where all you will have to do is check the name of the creator to ensure it's authenticity.

Other than that, you'd just have to get the word out to get people to go for it.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" I have been running one on farstar to do with football (soccer to those the other side of the pond) for the last 6months, season is over now. I have done other sports too, I found it great fun and lots of people who enjoyed it too.

However you do need a large cash base to set it up, I lost 10mil in one bet in my third week, but overall I did well out of it over the time I ran it.

Also sometimes the mods delete your threads, just put them back on, remind them that there is gambling in game and they get left on.

My advice is, when people place a bet get them to do it by in game mail and to confirm the bet they send you the banktip of the sum they wish to bet. No banktip no bet accepted. Initially some people might think you will run with the money, some games I had upwards of 50 people betting on the outcome of the game.

I used scores to bet on, offering fixed odds on the score of the game.
