Thread: Hey, can we Bio Engineers get some love here?

The latest patches are nice if you have a combat bent or Jedi. But what about us Bio Engineers? Rancors are a tough find on Dath, and other critters that are popular in BE formulas (merek harvesters, etc.) are not that common either for us to sample. It's getting to the point if you don't have a Ranger helping you out, you can spend an entire game session looking for the ones you need that you can't get missions for. Previously all you had to do is go to the waypoints for 'em (Rancor Valley for example) and you can find what you need.

Hey, while I'm at it...if miners and others who can survey on mounts, why can't BE's sample on mounts?

nope, no love here in the business and economy forum....maybe in the BE forum hmm...

-I support a Galactic Civil War fought between regular, average players... Simply strict, hardlined Imperials & freedom lovin' Rebels fighting for control of the galaxy. A Galactic Civil War fought not with glowsticks or lightsabers, but with blasters, lances, and how much guts you have. A Galactic Civil War which reflects the timeline, the destruction of the Death Star, the absolute control which the Empire has and the brave Rebels trying to break up that reign... The extinction of all but a few rare and special Jedi. That my friends, is the Galactic Civil War and that is what we have to aim for.

So what's wrong with having to team up with another profession to accomplish your goals? It's the idea in the first place lol.

Cause everyone is out grinding Jedi. They have their own goals in mind amd it's getting hard to find people to assist anymore, even within my own guild.

It probably has something to do with the way the BE profession works in the actual game, as a stand-alone. There's chef tissues, tailor tissues, and pets and pet stims - all items that require another class to make use of. Tailors don't need BEs, it depends on a CHs frame of mind, but it's never NEED, and BEs are SO critical to chefs that many grind their own, and the chefs that don't go this route would far prefer to be supplied with schematics, often enough. They also tend not to want to pay overmuch for additives - check prices on them, then check prices on the ingredients for them sometime.

I don't think bioengineers object to having to team up with other players to reach their goals. The objection is to valuable critters (e.g. mutant rancors) beingremoved so that jedi orientated siths and so on can be added. Come on what is Dathomir without an abundance of rancors? I have visited rancor valley on three occasions since the latest patch and have not found any rancors whatsoever in this area. I don't mind hiring a ranger to help me find them but even master rangers can't search a whole planet...

In addition merek harvesters and bark mite burrowers have very valuable DNA and two recent visits to Endor left me walking for 2km beofre i finally found a critter...and even then it was only a pouncing jax.

I think the thing that upsets us bioengineers most is that very little is done to improve our profession. For example our secret research data saga goes on. We still havent had this or any hint of this coming online. It confuses all noobie bioengineers so if ts not going to happen can you please just remove it from our schematics

Hrmmm...I don't know what rancor spawn are like on other servers, but on Radiant, my BH had no trouble whatsoever encountering a load of them just exploring Dath. near the Trade Outpost. I encountered 2 ancient bull rancor lairs within 100m of each other, and 250m away, an enraged rancor lair. Not to mention about 4 other rancor lairs (this was all within the span of about 2-3 days of just random exploration for a couple hours or so at a time). I even took out some SMC rancors by the Dath Sarlaac (although the dang tamer eventually, along with her pets, kicked my arse..dang dizzy, knockdown, choke,....yadda, yadda). Just reciting my experiences.

I really think that BE's should get an additional bonus to Mask Scent considering they have got to sneak up and stick that needle somewhere!

You know, I think that would be smart...for even a darn Kreetle can sniff me out with BE'd Camo/Mask Scent clothes (Spec Ops Duster, Paramilitary Camos, and Formitting Undershirt) and Sweet Jawa Beer helping me mask my scent. But then, maybe those little pesky bugs of Tattooine are the ultimate sniffers - been told even Rangers can't hide from them! (Run by - sniffed out - but the key is to *walk*.)

But hey, you'd have to ask when we'd get that added bonus? Novice? I'd just settle for being able to see more critters and being able to DNA sample on a mount since artisians can survey and sample on mount. Won't tell you how bummed I was when that patch went through and learned that it didn't apply to us Bio Engineers.

On a good note, I'm 60K away from Master Bio Engineer. Yeah, we may not get any love for the Bio Engineer isn't that glamourous as Jedi - but once you get the hang of it, it's fun. Besides, the funniest critter is a pet with 10K-ish HAM light armor and high Kinetic resist...as a bearded jax.

Bio-Engineers do need some loving but there are more important issues at hand. Finding creatures is not the problem, is the actual ability of being able to encroach on them and sample them. If you've ever talked to a BE about mutant rancors, one of the first things they will mention is the fact that they are near impossible to sample (a recent research article stated this to be as low as 5%) and this is IF you are able to get close enough without an agro, thus reducing this figure to 2 or 3%. I have spent many hours at a time in search of MR DNA and after a 3 hour expedition only to come back with 2 or 3 samples, which if used wisely, is enough for just one pet. 3 hours work for HALF ofsomething that sells for between 80-150k? This a key issue for Bio-Engineers and many have to resort to Master Scout or Ranger xx3x to compliment their profession (the prequisite for BE is Scout xx4x - NOT the mask scent line) which eats up a great number of SP, which, when combined with some merchant skills, only leaves them only enough SP for a small number of Creature Handler skills. While I don't think the SP requirements for BE are too high, I don't think that are enough skill modsand abilities to justify it.
