I'm on Kettemoor and it dosn't matter what server your on. Heres what you do. Make sure your house/shop is in a prime location. List vendors on Planetery map and enable them in Galaxy Vendor Search. Advertise and make sure all your productts have some type of logo that represents you on it. For example, my old buisness was called Elite Sales Inc. When creating a deed and whatnot make it like this:
Deed: Large Tatooine House (Elite Sales)
After this make sure you advertise with a Merchant Barker Droid, place it near a SP like cnet or naboo. Also if your in a guild try to sell your items there. People spread the word quick if your good and have good offers. Anyway thats the "basic" stuff to do. It's also nice for a customer to walk into a well decorated home and FULL VENDORS. MAke sure they have a selection. People hate walking to a Deed Store and only finding medium houses. Make sure you have all types of deeds in there and next to the vendor make a bag that says "Special Orders PST (name)". There you go.
Thanks, Diaso

well the basics of any marketing straegy that is used in real life works just the same in game.
i was helped with some of this by a guild mate who works in marketing irl.
1) location, location, location.
there is no point making the best guns in the galaxy if your shop is in a place that no-one ever visits. The only way anyone is gonna travel miles is if you sell goods that are way better than anyone elses or for half the price.
ill use a couple of examples.
a) my own shop - right outside dant mo, grind hot spot of the universe and frequented by most players at some point. the shop is only 350m out of the door of the mo, so close you can call a bike without a delay.
b) jbs mega mall in kabar, naboo. ok its a trip out there as unless you live on naboo you wont be there every day but he sells a LOT of great stuff at great prices.
2) branding
think of a brand name...........chances are you just thought of eather coke or mcdonalds. they are massive brand names.....if they were simply another namless company making fizzy drinks would they make as much money... i dont think so
a) again my own shop ....i use the -=j-tech=- logo on everything i can, my shop, the wp i email to people, on products...etc. anything that gets the name stuck in peoples mind.
b) jb is a brilliant example of this....he has a dozen crafters all selling out of the jb mega mall and they all use the jb name on their products.
3) advertising
on the forum, spamming, give free samples away........anything to attract attention.
i have found that on a normal week i take x amount of credits over the weekend. If i get time however i will double stock the shop and leave my computer turned on all day with a spam advert running....easily doubles sales.
if noone knows your megauber weapon shop is there, you aint gonna sell may cdefs.
4) prices...shop about, what does everyone else sell at? what is your break even point. price oyur products to make a profit yet still give good value. or make like asda do irl, sell cheap but sell LOTS. or be the marks and spencer, sell less but boost prices.
5) presentation.....i know as a player nothing bugs me more than an empty small house with a vendor parked in the middle. make you shop look half decent and people will remember it.
go take a look at mine, nothing fancy there, just simple well thought out decor
6) product.....make sure you are selling stuff people need. eg if you are a weap smith, dont waste your time making cdefs as they arnt gonna sell no matter how good they are. instead put your time into finding out what people want.
specialising also helps....again ws as an example, dont mess about making average weapons....specialise and make good ones.
forget about trying to make everything available and make for example the best pistols you can....make a name as the best pistol maker in the galaxy. you will have less resources to worry about, less stuff to keep stocked and will pick up regular customers
anyway thats enough, hope some of that helps

I'm on Kettemoor

His subject line shows he specifically does not want your opinion. Note he did not say "any general marketing strategies" or "any merchants from any server" He only wants the opinion of people on Chimera.
Personally, I think he does not understand marketing and your post will do him some good, but since he is so narrow focused, I would not expect him to read it. why it must only be people from Chimera is odd but we need to respect his wishes.

Any server, the principles are the same. They've covered the basics.
The best form of advertising is Word of Mouth - the name of a good crafter spreads like wildfire. Either go for Quality or Value: specialisation is better thab being a jack of all trades. If you can't beat something, sell it cheaper.
Stock is very important. Especially once you start climbing the ladder, you'll need to keep up with the demand for the supplies. I can't think of anything more frustrating than going to a store and finding nothing. No products, no sales.
EDIT: I am a Chimaeran

1) near a NPC city with lots of visits (f.eks) a starter town
2) Big house (so people can see you have something)
3) colourd sign, with what you have to special offer
4) always have 50+ items on each vendor
5) never run out of 1 of the items you are selling (that is running well)
6) focus 50% of the sale, on what you customers are buying most of
7) place vendors in you City mall(that would always work)
thats the tips i got

Man did you just blow my post out of the water. you are right, the original poster only says 'READ if you are on chimeara" so as long as you non-chimeara people are posting blindly to this thread then you are following the desire of the poster. He specifically does not want you to read his post but you can reply...wait...reply implies you are replying to somehting and he DOES NOT WANT YOU TO READ HIS POST...oh well not sure what you can do but post your best guess on what he wants.

They have server specific forums for a reason, if he really wants to only hear from those on his own server, he shouldnt have posted this here.
