Hi guys. I just got back from a long break from SWG, and just wanted to share some thoughts about what I see.
My template is Master Tk, Master Fencer, with some medic thrown in. In the past, I was always able to make a good living doing solo groups and selling the occational nice loot item. I have never done crafting and don't really have a desire to, or to be a doc starport buffing. I love you docs though !
I am very concerned about the Solo Group Mission pay nerf. I know a lot of people thought this was a lame practice or whatever, but I feel it was one of the few ways an all combat player such as myself could make a living in this game. And it was hard work atleast. Not just sitting arround macro'ing your way to success.
The mission pay is now pitifull and not even worth my time. That would not bother me as much, except I noticed the prices have not changed one bit since I took my break ! A good set of composite is still a fortune, and weapons buffs and etc etc add up quickly.
Please understand, Im not trying to flame crafters. Its not their fault. But how can they be so serious about making the Galactic Civil War feel more like a war, when its so hard for combat players to make a living ?? There are simply NOT enough skill points to spend so you can have a good fighter AND a money making profession. Its almost as if, this game was set up so you HAD to have two accounts to survive : A crafter, and a tank. Is this fair ??
Krayt hunts should be just that, hunts. Something to do for fun. Something awesome and rare. We should not HAVE to do Krayt hunts and hope for pearl drops to make a living. Should we ??
Sorry, I hope Im making some sense. I am just very concerned. And for me, this is taking a LOT of the fun out of the game for me. Now that mission pay is so nerfed, I find myself worrying about money and trying to make money more then I have fun.
Crafters are unlimited in what they can charge. Doctors can charge whatever they want for buffs, and people will pay gladly. But combat professions have been serverly nerfed in their earning potential.... I don't know.. This just does not feel right.
Thanks for your time

I guess it depends on what you think a good rate of earning is for each buff session. So you can't make a million credits in a single 3 hour buff session. Do you really need that much? How often do you need to buy new armor or a new weapon? It's still possible to make 200k credits or more in a buff session, depending on where you hunt, getting 8-9k per mission. That should be plenty to buy you whatever you need I'd think, but then I never look for the top-of-the-line armor and weapons so I could be mistaken.

I'm pretty sure you can still get missions in the 11-12k range with no group.

Think of it this way - if the combats are making less money, the crafters will have to charge less. Don't sweat it - it'll balance out.

You may want to think about picking up some scouting. Armor is about to require quite a bit more hide here in a few weeks. I would imagine that'll only increase an already lucrative trade.

Thats not true. The crafters will NOT lower prices significantly because of this change for several reasons.
1. Greedy ( obvious choice )
2. Lots of players have been here for years and have a fortune.
3. Lots of players have multiple accounts and grind money for themselves crafting.
4. This is a video game. The economy on this game does not follow real world trends.

Greedy for number 1? Some people design their characters to collect credits while others don't. No one is labeling fighters selfish for not spending their game time providing goods for the rest of the community. If 2 and 3 are true, there's no reason for lowering prices. As for 4, this is a video game so I would say the economy here doesn't always follow real word trends.
If people continue to pay a certain price, it'll remain. If they do not (regardless of how much cash they've got), the prices will go down. If the price drops below the cost to make something, it'll become difficult to track down.
