Hello all, I have been on and off this game since beta and have returned to try out the new patch. This isn't a post about the patch or the new mechanics of the game, but instead about server population and housing. From what I have noticed since my return, there are a lot of shops and homes that are empty and seem to have not been in use for sometime. I think there should be a server wide reset of some sort for these types of homes. For instance, if a home has not been in use for the past month or so, the house is automatically redeeded into the players inventory. This can also be applied to harvesters and the such. Along the lines of this form of a reset, I also believe that the 20 servers that are up and running is currently far to much for the overall population of this game. I think if we consolidate the servers into 10 or so, by combining two server populations together by having one of the servers automatically transfer all players to the other server and allow for redeeding of all their assets that this can be accoplished. It will be as if the server started anew, but people have all their items, xp, and homes. I know it can be done for I have seen many other mmos do the same type of thing. It gets tiring trying to find a weapon vendor or an armor vendor and going to 8 different shops that are completely empty of items but are still listed on the map. I will also repost this on a few other forums to see if anyone else agrees with me and maybe catch the attention of the developers. Any other suggestions in regards to this would be most appreciated and helpful. Thanks for the time and see you online!

I agree with this part 100%, there are far too many vacant houses out there. Would be nice to have the system remove houses after a certain amount of time being vacant and return them and all the contents back to the players inventory in case they come back.

I know it can be done for I have seen many other mmos do the same type of thing. This can't be done for numerous reasons, one being that the resourceson each server are different and also the fact it would put the merchants that get moved at aHUGE disadvantage seeing that vendor locationis one of the most important things for a merchant. All the prime locations would be occupied by people on server X and when thepeople from server Yare forced to move all they have to choose from are horrible locations.

It gets tiring trying to find a weapon vendor or an armor vendor and going to 8 different shops that are completely empty of items but are still listed on the map.If you just started playing again you may not know but you can do a vendor search fromany bazaar terminal now. This should keep you from having to go to several shops looking for what you want. Also, empty vendors shouldn't be showing up on the map to begin with. Once a vendor is empty it is removed from the map and after a certain amount of time has passed with it being empty it will beremoved altogether.

Thank you greatly! I tried the vendor search from the bazaar terminals and I am not sure if I am doing something wrong, but it constantly comes up blank. I select the tab for vendor search and then just do a search for all items in the game and nothing comes up...

Be sure to try changing the search location to the entire planet or galaxy for that matter. The default is regional, and often there are no vendors of the type you are looking for in the region.

you know I have to agree I have house next to me a player that started about the same time. i have not seen hide nor hair of the player since last july. I believe the biggest problem is that people switch servers for what ever reason and don't go back. SWG should delete the property if is is condemded for more than 60 days.this will give playerstime if an problem arises for them to get back into the server.
