Thread: Some thoughts about player's with vendors
No offense, but there was a lot more to the CU that affected crafters than you probably realize. I'm not faulting you, just telling you how it is. First of all, as has already been stated, relisting the items was a laborious task. You couldn't even just withdraw them from sale and relist them from the stockroom, you had to put them into your inventory then relist them. But the problem with that is until you've crafted some weapons with thepost-CU components, you had no way to evaluate the quality of the converted items. And before you could craft new weapons you needed for first start running components, so it took some time just to get enough components run to do the massive testing that was required since we were essentially looking at a totally new crafting system. Add to that the stealth change in the way resource values are determined in crafting (without going into details that was a huge change that cost several hours of study and reevaluation of resources) .Since I couldn't determine the value of the items on my vendor, i just left them there until I could replace them with some new items.
So by Monday night I had done factory runs for all my components and had completed small runs for 11 different Pistols and Carbines, since that's what I make for my partnership. I'm far from done providing new versions of all the weapons but I shudder to think what it would be like trying to do it all alone (I have two other partners).
It was an unfortunate coincidence that we had to deal with both a new crafting system that required all new weapons and components and vendors that no longer were showing details of the items we had listed prior to the curb. I spent easily 20 hours playing from the CU going live until I had some new weapons on my vendor. In the end, I just took all the pre-CU weapons off my vendor, stuck them in packs and stored them, though at first impression they look like they're nearly all destined for the trash heap.
Being a Vendor on the Lowca server having 2 accounts. I see both sides of the issue. It takes alot the artisans time now to remove the items (in some cases convert and replace them) . being a chef I am currently having to go through and remake every item and examing what the food stuffs do now after CU. This is a very time consuming task. I don't know if anyone has run into this problem yet but if you examine items unless the item has been restocked you cannot get the details of the items. As a combatant I find it hard to buy weapons and armor not being able to get a description of the item. The loss of waypoints from planet to planet makes it hard to search get a waypoint only to get to the planetlose the waypoint then have to search for the item again just to get the waypoint.
let me explain something to the non artisan class players. Items stay on a vendor for 30 days. they then stay in the store room on the vendor for another additional30 days after which the items are then deleted. after 30 day of a vendor being empty the vendor will no longer appear as an active vendor. so there is a balance to the vendor problem.
the housing issue is another problem that SOE said they would address last year sometime. I have no idea what became ofit.
i have a master chef/master merchant/ master artisan on one account
I have been busy relocating vendors due to the CU. I have not yet begun to craft new foods because ...
double exp on other accounts.. need to grind bio-engineer, tka and drop shipwright on alt account
...need to gather meat/hide for components on tkm/swords/mbra/scout 4040 acct
give it time, in our guild, all crafters have slow to non-existant sales but anticipate once dbl exp is over, sales to increase.
