Thread: Developers, please streamline harvesters

I have two suggestions to offer regarding harvesters.

SUGGESTION 1

It would be very helpful if the interface for harvesters (and possibly factories as well) could be streamlined. By “streamlined”, I mean reduce the number of mouse-clicks and radial menu interactions necessary to navigate the interface byat leasthalf.

May I suggest reworking the harvester interface as follows:

- A single-right-click opens a control panel which displays remaining maintenance and power, whether the harvester is operating, what it is mining currently, and the fullness of the hopper.

- Also on this contorl panel should be a button with the label "Empty and Reclaim". A singleleft-click on this button would empty the contents on the hopper into the player's inventory, and then reclaim the harvester, placing the deed in the player's inventory. This would only work if the player had the neccesary inventory space, and the funds in bank or cash to pay the harvester's maintenance up to the level where the deed could be reclaimed.

- Also useful would be abutton on the main control panel marked "Empty" . When pressed, this button would dump the entire contents of the hopper into the player's inventory (space permitting).

- Lastly, an "Autoname" button on the control panel, when pressed, would change the name of the harvester to "'s Harvester" (ie, if my name is Rannd, it would be changed to "Rannd's Harvester")

The main thrust of this new interface design would be to present as muchvitaldata, and as many commonly-used commands, on the front control panel as possible. With a single right-click to open this panel, and a single left-click to empty the hopper and relaim the harvester deed, many mouseclicks and radial menu navigations could be eliminated, and the harvesters would be far more accesible and user-friendly.

SUGGESTION 2

Please add animations and/or effects to all harvesters and factories that do not already have them, to provide players with a quick visual reference that indicates whether the harvester is currently mining or not. Some harvesters have this, but many do not, and I don't think that any factories do. This would be useful in quickly identifying whether a harvester has stopped mining, or a factory has stopped production.

Thank you Developers, and keep up the good work!
