Try to group with someone, and do "destroy" missions from the "Mission Terminal", should give you lots of xp, it's easier to get the mission done... Everyone gets money!

First, destroy missions have a "level" indicator when you read the details of them. Try to keep this at or below your current CL. Different mission terminals seem to have different min/max level ranges. The ones in the NPC cities on Tatooine, Naboo, and Corellia are capped with a max of 15. The ones in the outposts on Dantooine have a minimum level of 25 or so. Endor/Yavin have a min in the 50s. Missions from NPCs could be all over the place, and you don't get a chance to check the level before taking it.

There are different types of mission terminals, and somealso have different categories on the top. Destroy missions (from the thin orange terminals) are the most commonly used, because you get credits and xp for the mob killed. There are also delivery missions (where you take a message from one NPC to another). These can be profitable if you take two at a time that go to roughly the same location (especially if you have JTL for cheap transport). If you have any artisan skills, you can also try the artisan mission terminals. Here you have a choice of crafting missions (meet an NPC, get parts and an item schematic, put it together, then meet another NPC for delivery) or survey missions (find a location with a given % concentration of a given resource type).

Entertainer missions give you a waypoint to the entrance of the building that has the gig. You have to actually perform inside the cantina/hotel/theater for ten minutes to get the payment.

If you have JtL you can also get money from doing the pilot missions. Your starter ship will get you through all of the Tier I missions, and probably through most of the Tier 2 missions. You get mission payouts, credit chips from destroyed ships and you can sell space loot to chassis dealers for 1K per equipment level. By the time you need to buy a new chassis and ship equipment you should have a good deal of money saved up. And you can always fly around and shoot random ship spawns to get loot and credit chips.

Not sure if this still works or not, but when I started out (at launch) you could go to a small outpost and run delivery missions. The cool thing was that they were all in the same outpost so you didn't have to walk more than 100m. You won't get a lot of money, but if it still works, it'll help you get started.

Well if you plan on being a combat character a good way to make money early on is to not worry about the cash. At level 1 there is nothing you can buy from another player that you really need. If you are a ranged prof you don't get your first decent weapon until level 10-14 anyway. I suggest going to bestine, tatooine. With your newbie gun, sword, fists, ...etc. kill the low level stuff around town (now make sure you don't drop the novice scout you started with). Make sure to skin everything. If the hides suck don't worry sell em in stacks of 1000 hides for 3-5cpu and people will buy them. You will make a decent amount of money this way and will gain levels faster which means more hp and better weapons.

Make sure to train the hunting line in scout first (even if you do not plan to keep scout in your final temp it is a good idea to get it early) then train the exploration line. You can decide if you want the fancy camps or not. So with this method you get decent cash by providing grinding hides, you improve your skills/level so you can take on harder stuff, and you get to experience the game.

Don't get caught up in the "I need to be level 80 now crowd". You will just burnout. There are plenty of really cool things to see at lower levels, hell I am level 1 as I am a crafter and I still go roaming on hostile planets alone.

Oh and for the love of all that is holy sell in even stacks. I may just be incredibly picky but I hate when the resource quanties are like 1342 it drives me insane. If you right click the resource stack it gives you the split option so you can sell exact quantities.

Thats about it. Don't worry about armor until you are at least half way through your first elite profession and get to know the people that play around you and see the sites. Some of the best stuff in SWG can only be walked to and there is nothing cooler than running across a little known part of a planet with a really nice view.
