Thread: Real Numbers Breakdown

Hello

From what I've read in this forum, it seems people think that even making 1cr is difficult. I'm here to show you, with real stats, that this is not the case.

My hubby and I recently opened a shop on Naboo. I make Furniture and Tools, he makes Clothing and Powerups.Rather than 'rare' items, we specialize in having vendors that are full stocked, ready to go at all times. You can ALWAYS come out and get the furniture you need, for example, without the need to send a custom order request

Take what you will from these numbers. I find it just fun, not really into it for the profit. I actually give most of the money back to my guild, because that's where I derive a lot of my entertainment.

Total Days Open: 31

Total Credits Earned: 5390500cr

Total Individual Items Sold: 1244

Unique Customers: 166

That breaks down to:

Credits per day: 173887cr

Items per day: 40

Average cost per item: 4333cr

Best customer has spent 562k at my shop (large custom order with a ton of master level furniture).

30 people have been return customers, shopping at my store more than once.

Best sales day: Saturday, 19 Feb 2005. 128 items sold, 609000cr. (that restock sucked lol)

Recent in-game happenings that have affected this: Mainly, the change in house space. I can't remember the exact day, but I haven't had a single day below 200kcr salessince. I watch in horror at times as person after person flow into my shop, while I'm still trying to restock from the previous day lol.

What do I get out of these numbers? Personally, not much. As I said, I really do enjoy the crafting, the day-to-day running of the shop, and I love it when people take a moment to say "this is the best shop I've ever seen". Thank you, that means a TON to me

The town I live in is also very happy for the success. The city hall coffers are brimming over, and we're very nicely decorated

What should you take from this? Anyone can make this much per day. In combat, figuring for 10k missions doing, say, gurrecks of endor gathering their wooly hide. That's about 20k per set of missions, and around 500 units of hide per set. Figure you can sell the hide for 4cpu (low, I know). That's 22k per set of missions, to equal my sales, that would mean 8 outings, or around 16 missions total. Figure in to pay for your 15k buffs, and other resources, run 2 more. That's 18 missions, 9 sets. For a combat-orented player, I bet they could do a gurrek mission in as little as 10 min per set. That's 1.5 hrs. Leaving you another 1.5 hrs on your buff set to go have fun, or continue to make money, or anything they want!

Overall, it's just numbers, and if that number tells you how much 'fun' you're having, it's really not hard to push that number up really high

Just the fact that your vendors are always stocked puts you way ahead of most people. Word of mouth is the best advertising anywhere!

I seriously want to say good job. I am a consumer, and, well, ok, i look for the hard to get stuff. But the fact remains that when I go looking through vendors, Sometimes they have 5 items in them. I feel like I wasted my time. It is infuriating when I hit 'ctrl-m' and most of the vendors I see say 'loot' or 'comp armor'. As strange as this may sound, people actually look for things OTHER than loot and comp armor.

Again, good job on being a vendor for something OTHER than loot and comp armor.

Been open for a while now, someone asked me in game how the shop was going, and I responded good... but that was just from feeling. I fired up merchant's friend right now and waited for it to figure my sales... I must say I didn't think I was doing THIS well

Number of days Open: 140
Total Sales in credits: 31,931,732cr
Average sals per day: 228,083cr
Number of unique customers: 606
Average spent per customer: 52,692cr

Best day ever was Monday, 23 May 2005 at 1,828,001cr.

And the strange one...
Best selling items:
Torches, Bucket Chairs, and Potted Trees

If you're having fun, that's all the really counts.

IMO

I think the people who post here stating they find it hard to make credits, are just lazy. Or didn't even try asking someone in-game, preferibly someone with (HELPER) over their name.. and (HELPER) doesn't mean loaner, or giver. /sigh

yeah being a crafter pays well. My AS buisness (closing in on the 30 day mark) has blown up have grossed 40 million so far. Although all of it goes back in to resources so I don't keep a very large bank balance atm. Although getting started in AS did take me 2million credits (about 1.25million to get from novice to master).

The life a crafter is rough at times. Especially since I can not factory produce armor due to the coloring bug )=. So I have to hand craft everything.

I enjoy it though. There is something rewarding about a customer comming back to buy armor from you because you make it and they know they can trust you to correct any problems with it.

Interesting breakdown, mistys -- thanks for taking the time; this is fascinating stuff.

But (you knew a but would show upat some point, right? ) I'd like to know more about some of the unspoken assumptions that went into those results. If we're going to tell people "it's easy to get rich crafting!" we'd better give them all the facts.

With that in mind, here aresome questions that occurred to me....

1. You mentioned giving money back to your Player Association (guild). From this, I gather that you and your husband belong to a PA. (Clever, no?)

This leads me to wonder: How much does your PA contribute to your business?

a. Where do you get your resources? Do you primarily:

  1. mine your own resources,

  2. buy yourresources from other players, or

  3. accept resources given to you by PA members?

b. If you mine your own resources, do you use any lots donated by members of your PA? Or do you solely use the 20 lots ofthe two accounts (yours and your husband's) that you play on the server in question?

c. Do you use a PA hall for your shop? Or do you use some of your personal lots?

d. Do other PA members craft items for you and your husband to sell? Or do you both sell only what youpersonally make?

2. From your statement that "I make Furniture and Tools, he makes Clothing and Powerups", I guess that your primary professions are Master Artisan and Master Architect, and your husband's primary professions are Master Artisan and Master Tailor. Is this list complete -- do you make products for sale using anyother crafting skills?

I hope you won't interpret these questions as critical; that's not my intention. I'm just trying to make sureI understand what inputs are necessaryto produce the great outputs you're getting.

Thanks!

I should have mentioned this, but I had a falling out with my guild a while ago, and am not searching for another . We've basically been going it alone for quite a while now.

For the most part, we purchase our resources. I dropped 5 harvesters statically, and they mine just whatever happens to spawn under them. It helps a little, but for the most part it's just 'extra' over and above what we purchase. Usually, I just end up using whatever they get as my default 'metal' for most of my furniture.

Currently, we're setup in a Medium Naboo House. We have it well decorated, and are actually quite happy with how it's setup and looks .

We have 1 other person currently in our 'mall', selling vehicles. We're looking for more, but we'd rather get to know the person first, make sure they are good people who will keep well-stocked, rather than just recruiting anyone. It's very important to us that stock is kept, as that's really the only thing that makes us unique compaired to others. There's never a chance you'll come in and not find what you need in the fields we work in. I keep somewhere around 2500 items available, my husband around 3300.

Currently, my professions are Master Artisan, Master Architect, Master Merchant. I've dabbled into novice weaponsmith and novice droid engineer specifically so I can make sword cores (custom furniture kit) and droid storage modules (vehicle paint kits and custom furniture kit).

We've talked about it, and really the only reason we're so successful is because of our stock. You can come in, at any time, and fully decorate your house, or walk away with a complete wardrobe.

I hope this helps

For SW. Never ever try to make your business succeed with chassies. They just don't sell real well. The ship parts is where the money is. I specialized in purely asteroid parts only and i sold quite a few for not advertising and having a shop out in the middle of the naboo swamps. Now, if i get off my lazy butt, i could probably make a lot more sales. And this is on TC-prime, right before the last mothballing for pub 18. So, my customer base is really really tiny. I sold a few chassies, but only when someone was asking for one, they are not worth the resources otherwise.
