Crafters arent cash cows, Crafters are professions and as with Fighting templates you get what you put into it. If you dedicate a lot of time to crating youll earn a lot of credits if you dont youll probably end up with minus on the bank balance.

If you are after Easy money Crafters shouldnt be your choice. I could earn more credits on my fighting character than I can on my crafter if I put as much effort into it. Choose crafting cause you find it interesting and fun, dont do it to earn credits.

Welcome to the show that never ends!

A "cash cow" is a business that generates good profit with a minimum of new investment.

I'm an Armorsmith/Tailor. I make good money - but I invest A LOT of game time making product, taking orders, maintaining vendors/harvestors/factories etc.etc.etc. In my expereince most crafters fit this profile.

The only "cash cows" I am aware of are mission runners. Get a mission, kill something, get paid. Doesn't get much easier than that.

I have to agree with a few of the posters here. Don't get into crafting because you want to make money. I mean I'll be honest with you. If you want to make money, you can make a sick amount of money with ANY profession. Speaking for myself, I pull in around 15mil per week. This is a rough estimate so don't hold me on it. This is my gross number and doesn't take the investment into consideration. Is this good money? I think it is. There's crafter who make less and there's crafters who make more.

Honestly, though, you have to choose to do this because you enjoy the day to day business of running your operation. If you don't like doing this it's going to feel like a job. I love running my business. I love the math of it. I love figuring what my prices need to be. I love streamlining my operation to run as efficient as possible. I love the customers that I see keep coming back to my shop over and over and I have never talked personally with them. I love the people that send me tells looking for custom work, tell me I'm doing a good job and to keep it up, then toss me a nice tip.

I mean really, what does the money really do for you? Once you've banked 10s of millions it's not like you really need any more. It's about enjoying what you do, and that is providing the population with something they need to be productive. You rely on them and they rely on you. You can make just as much money providing looted items if you're a fighter profession. You pick what you enjoy most about the game, then make your money that way. Me personally, I love number crunching my spreadsheets and servicing my customers.

If you want to make easy, big $$$, don't bother with crafting.......become a Master Loot Acquisition Specialist. All you need is a minimum of merchant skill to sell loots of all kinds. I have an associate that sell SEAs (Skill Enhancement Attachments) and he has made hundreds of millions of credits. HIs next big money maker is mining and sellingthe best resources. The only crafting he ever tried was makingStim-Ds, and although they are some of the best on the server, they are not making much at all...especialy compared to his primary ventures.

For the least skill point investment and not having to wait months for a rare resource to pop up to make you a viable elite crafter (or waiting for a going out of business sale), then Artisan is it. If you are human, have a artisan experimantation +25 suit and are 4-4-0-0, I believe you are a +14 exp point artisan. I am one and I make great artisan foods and power-ups. As much as I enjoy crafting, I have made crafting secondary....it pays the bills. I am enjoying my alts a bit more and am an excited Novice Loot Acquisition Specialist.

Weaponsmiths are a dime a dozen on my server...but there is always room for a very, very good one. You will need to have the best resources to be competitive, and probably will be needing a +20 weapons exp suit.

Armorsmiths are rare and make big $$$$, but theresources are often hard to come by and must be stockpiled extensively when they do.

Chefs got a beating with the CU to some degree (many crafters did actually), but food is an addicitve thing. I enjoy even making artisan food, so I would go chef if I were not a weaposmith gaurding my rare resources like a junkyard dog.

Shipwrights are very resource intensive, but good ones make excellent money.

Architect is a bit resource intensive, but there is a demand for them and excellent money can be made. You only need to worry about high stats on certain metals and ore when making certain parts of and fianl combines on harvesters for Max BER.

Tailor would be doing much better if the BE subcomponents were able to combine to make the enhanced clothing. I have heard of a rumor that this issue is to be addressed after next publish! Yeah!

BE is overly worked I think. Too many things to make which makes it a resource nightmare. From meds, to tissues for foods & clothes, then to pets. Yikes! Good money to be made, but you need great resources in stuff that may not always be easy to get (even taking into account BE is NOT a combat class).

DE should be one of the most fun, but has experienced some difficulties at the hands of SOE. It is very subcomponent intensive and requires good resources. DEs are relatively rare on my server. Supply and demand folks......$$$$

Good Luck!

I've always heard the easiest way to get lots of money is to be a resource gatherer. now there are 2 kinds: the ones that get only the highest end resources, place down as man harvestors around the highest spawn and milk it dry for only 1 profession. And there are the ones that get any ole' resource and sell it at a low price, maybe 2 or 3 cpu for the people that need to grind out the profession.

I find starting out with the second is a lot easier because you can build up your stockpile of poor grinding resources, then start asking the customers what kind of materials they need for when they master their proffesion. then move on to the first kindI mentioned.

Just have to remember to think small and build from there.
