The vendor search works good for finding resources. There is a lot of repeat listings but if you have the name of the resource you want you can page thru quickly.
One thing I noticed when looking for crates of brandy that people are naming crates of lesser items with names of more expensive items.
Example: I saw a crate of 25 droid batteries that was named 'Vaserian Brandy: 432m/f/w, 45min, 49fill' for 150k.
Buyer beware!

A bug eh? I guess thats better than scammers selling miss-labled goods.
Thanks for the info.

The week the changes were introduced (I was the first shipwright on Ahazi to put his vendors on the search on Tat) was my best week ever, almost double of my usual buisiness. Last week was good too, on the high side of my usual weekly income.
I agree that architect needs some love though - I am still using harvs from over a year ago. They need some decay!

Doesn't have to be a bug. Another thread in this forum talks about an architect who was tired of resellers so was making wind generators and renaming them as large houses.

I'm not sure how well my dropping prices affected me. I've had quite a few sales of harvesters to people I've never seen before and an informal survey indicated people who found me via the galaxy search. However the majority of purchasers were people I previously knew. I'll probably continue with my low prices and get rid of older stock and replace them with harvesters with bigger hoppers (finally got around to get my 12pts).

I remember a lot of people warning that adding the vendor search will cause massive price wars and cut prices down so low it would be almost impossible to make a profit.
So far I have seen my prices go up, and my sales go through the roof. I have expanded my business location and plan to add another merchant tent on another planet asap.
I'm wondering if the folks against this change have a different view now? or see bigger problems in the future?
one. its bugged - have many screenshots to prove it
two. people put every single vendor including there storage vendors - i.e. total crap
three. doesnt help me find anything, only sorts by name or price, or entrance fee (LMAO) - how can i user find low items better than others, users can choose to find the highest priced items which in swg has no bearing on quality, or users can look at cheap priced items which is normally crap lol
i wish it worked - i really did!

The galaxy-wide vendor "search" is totally broken. That's why it hasn't affected much.

It's another fine example of a new feature being added without having it tested enough. It's happening again and again. I like new features, and especially this one was very promising for me.
On the first few days I noticed higher sales than usual, but it looks like most people have given up using this feature - no surprise to me.

Quick update on how the Vendor Search is working out for me.
My sales have remained strong, I sell more ships, more parts, and in general have more customers now than I did before. And I'm raising my prices atm because I'm selling things too fast.
I also have found it possible to find tons of small items for good prices which I've collected. It's now possible to be a merchant, imo, just looking for good prices, buying them and then selling them yourself.
IMO the vendor search is REALLY nice and I have nothing but great things to say about it.
If I were to recommend one thing to addit would be that entire lists be sorted alpha/distance/cost/etc instead of just per page.
