Thread: Shouldn't have to compete with players that quit

I am sorry for those who have real life issues that require them to leave for three months, but still this shouldnt be a game of dibs. It is exeptable for me if i leave that my stuff would leave with me BUT i would retain them for use when i get back by redeeding them out of inventory. I dont agree with whiping the character completly of their valuables or skills for any reason. Its just like being in line at the grocery store, if you leave it dont expect your spot to be the same but you can still get back in it. It might seem a little cruel, i dont intend for it to be so but, it is only fair that everyone still playing have a chance at that land.

SOE guarantees 3 months before they may or may not wipe your character and people do have to quit for breaks for illness, unemployment or one relatively common thing i've seen, military deployment.

a 30 day cut on vendors is reasonable but buildings and the like should get their guaranteed 3 months at the least, so long as someone is paying the maintenance

I don't have a problem with a 3 month period. But a lot of these abandonedbuildings have been around for upwards of a year or longer. And they will never burn down now. So some guy who quit a year ago, and never intends to return, will occupy prime real estate outside of Theed or Coronet until the servers shut down, or SOE bothers to delete some old accounts. Frankly, that's not fair to loyal players--we're still paying SOE's bills.

Slim Vargo, Corbantis

agreed which is why i say 3 months...that covers most of your major RL issues if you intend to come back. poofing on cancellation though is unfair imo

Look at this example, a rich resource merchant with 3 alts.

Alt 1 is the merchant with a house and 8 harvesters

Alt 2 is there for lots 10 harvesters

alt 3 for lots 10 harvesters

Now this guy after making say 35 million selling resources decides to leave swg and he so puts 11 mill in each toons bank. and hits cancel without removing anything, Now you can potentially have a total of 28 harvesters and a house on prime property in the outskirts of Theed or Cnet.

Loyal = paying, which is the only form of customer input they have the slightest interest in.

When a player cancels their account, all their vendors should become inaccessable, removed from the planet map and removed from the bazaar network. All of their harvesters should be removed from the world and put in their bank, if there is room.

There should also be a character purge to free up some real estate, but that's another subject.

Don't make the players compete with the quitters.

I disagree. I recently (24 hours ago in 10min) If all my stuff was 'purged' I wouldn't be happy. Lets say I own a profitable armor vendor. I quit due to real life issues. Is it fair that after playing since release I have to restart my business from the ground? Find a new place? Perhaps 'fair' isnt the right word, anything related to a game is fair, people being aborted by someone who cant keep their fly zipped is 'unfair'. But either way, if I decide to take a break for a month, I dont deserve to have my business shattered.

Your right. But after being gone for three months, I'd disagree. If they were to decide to put your stuff into some sort of vault where it's not gone, fine, but I'd even say make you start from scratch if they would clear the landscape. Three months without paying is a pretty good sign you're gone for an extended time. If you don't want your stuff to go bye bye, re sub once a month every three months.

My healthclub lets me pay a reduced subscription fee if I have to go on an extended leave. for example if I have to put my accunt on hold for 6 months it costs me $30, so perhaps if SOE adopted a similar policy, if you pay say $3-$5 a month they will keep your account active, but you just can't play, this would make it easier for tehm to justify wiping old accounts that arent even paying the measily $3 to keep it alive, that way there would be more player wipes of old accounts.

Now there's a novel idea.........I like that!! And anyone playing on the Bria server definitely knows how big of a problem this is. Just to give you an idea, the beach property stretching along the ENTIRE northern coast of Naboo is packed fom end to end with houses. The area surrounding Bestine and Anhcorhead is riddled with structures. And you can basically extend Coronet all the way to Bella Vista with as many houses there are in that area.

I have a big problem with this. I'm sorry if your RL issues take you from the game, if the issues are so big that you can't pay for the account then all your stuff should revert to inventory. I personall thikn one the biggest mistakes made was to automatically deduct maintenence from your account. I have had three harvestors parked outside my hose in theed for six months!!!! No way they are still harvesting anything. As previously pointed out this is just SOE using a cheap way to get people to come back at teh expense of current players.

this is why i'm in support of a 3 month limit...RL issues do take people from game, your inventory can only hold 80 items

its a fabulous thing that you have never had to go on leave from the game for any period but the fact is that people shouldn't be punished and lose everything due to the uncertainties of life.

i'm not an advocate of anything longer than that myself...for the reason you are pointing out but i personally know of people who have been gone for a couple of months due to the following reasons: house fire, death of parents/spouses, unemployment, and relocating to another country.

I personally believe if a person is quiting they should pack up their belongings into either their inventory or thier bank and redeed all property i personally believe anyone that doesnt do this is first irresponsible and second most likely unsure if they really want to quit in the first place

I disagree, because I would be unable to do all those things because I have close to 8000 items combined with my toons and my wives toon. it would eb really ahrd to fit that into 3 inventories and banks... that is why Ihave a cluster of 7 houses , 13 factories, and 2 storage vendors. So that I can store all my stuff.
