I agree. Eliminating the need to track people down after they have won an auction is reason enough.

I agree......make the bazaar limit 6000 credits, but remove the limit on auctions. Seriously now....anything worth auctionng has got to be worth more than 6000 credits. There's no need to go seek out the buyer...he just has to go to the bazaar terminal and pick up his item.

Although I hate to visit empty vendors as much as the next guy, I think the vendor system is a good way to make the economy more personal. If everything was available at centrally located bazaar terminals, it would have a seriously negative impact on the merchants of the game. Everyone who has spent time making their malls a real destination would instantly have that work rendered pointless. I am not really taking a side on this issue, but I think there is a group of players in this game who would be negatively impacted by a no limit bazaar.
The correction of the central issue of finding what you want could be handled very well by increasing the capabilities of the planetary map (in my opinion). If the vendor listings were accurate and timely based on what is actually on the vendor, that would go a long way toward relieving the stress of empty-vendor searching. Furthermore, if the classifications were more granular than pharmaceuticals, but rather stim B, stimC, stimD, enhance D, rez, intimidate, etc, you would have a method of finding your desired goods, while still giving a reason for merchants to exist.

I agree with samijx, Leave a limit on what Items can be sold for.....6000 credits...and make it so that the sky is the limit on auctions. The only reason I can see that sony has kept things this way is so that the economy doesnt go out of control. Perhaps they could even make it so that personal vendors could have the ability to place auctions as well, and let those items be seen on the city baazar as well.

The Bazaar should have a 2mill limit so it allows some freedom but I see the auctions as an estential part of the economy.

I disagree, leave the capat 6k
I remember when they raised the bazaa to 6k almost everything that was put on the bazaa doubled in price. on the 2 servers I play most on it only succeeded in creating a huge jump in the cost of everything. it has only just recently come back down and level off.
Not to mention it would deter people from taking the merchant profession and could hurt them.

Another thing about the bazaar, auctions time out, but they don't really disappear so to speak. On the forums, while it's possible to go back 10 pages, hardly anyone does so. Usually they check only the first few pages, since those are the latest (and probably active) auctions. The forums provide a means for sellers to attract attention to their auction items. Presumably this function of updating auction items to the top of the auctions on the bazaar could be done once higher bids were posted, but that would require additional code. I suppose it would have to depend on the trade off between running the trade forums and the implementation of auction code. Suspect it's a more efficient/cheaper to run the trade forums than to add that function to the game.

Aggreed the bazzar limits should rise.
To keep the Merchants happy the limit should be based on your merchant skill. Every one would be able to sell items upto 20K. But at each merchant skill box you get to be able to sell items for me.
Also I think that the selling of band items sliced weapons, spice etc should not be allowed publically on the bazzar. If you do put up said item, after a random period of time the item is confiscated by the watchfull imperial army. You get a mail telling you so and a fine.
However to sell/buy illegal items, you need to aquire a smuggler made 'key' that allows you to view illegal auctions. The smuggler key would be good for 50 uses before it no longer works. These illegal auctions are galaxy wide.

As a merchant I will be thrilled to sell my wares on the Galaxy Wide Bazaar for whatever price the market will bear. Allowing galaxy wide trades of any item at any price is efficient and in my best interest as a merchant. It will be more of a boon for the buyers, though. But I play the game to enjoy it, not to become fantasy rich.
These forums are a sad alternative to the neat little bazzar already built into the game. When I see a painting goign for 100k plus on these forums and then find one for less than 20k on a vendor I start to wonder.
How much will your recycler be worth in a few weeks time? 1.5 million or just 500k? Probably less.
How much will neuteca steel go for in a few weeks?

the bazaar has very little to do with merchants.
for example:
i am a combat guy (mch, mr), and i have quite a bit of stuff to sell (scout resources, loot). i sell small stuff on the bazaar, but i have ot ride the forums to sell anything decent, or large quantities. considering that over 1/2 the game population doesn't even read the forums, we are missing out on a lot of potential buyers, and they are missing out on lots of goodies.
i have tried many times to get something set up with a merchant to sell for me, but with the lack of tools, all they want to do is buy my stuff cheap and sell it making large profit. not going to happen. none of the merch's want to take stuff on consignment and get say 10% off the top for handling it.
this is why the bazaar needs the limit removed. give each person 25 listings, with no credit limit. this doesn't hurt anyone's profession, and it enhances the sellability of goods, and increases the player access to 'stuff'.

How about give merchants an ability to do commision sales. You state the price you want to sell your item for, place in the vendor of your and his choice. When it sells, you get the credits in your account with an email saying it sold. Then the merchant gets a percentage of commision for the sale. Everyone walks away happy with the stuff they wanted.
There will be merchants who would go for that. they wouldn't have to have the cash to buy your items, they just have to advertise and i am sure you would too when selling on the vendor and he gets a little cash for the vendor usage. And you get the credits you sold the item for. This could be either a set price or by auction. You just have to decide with the vendor on the commission.

1) Removing bazaar limits cuts the knees off of merchants.
2) I LOVE being able to do business while I'm at work. The Trade Forums rule for that alone.

Exactly, people using the trade forums are a tiny percentage of the total actually playing the game. Most people would rather be online playing the game rather than online reading about the game.
