I would disagree with this. This is only a shade different from that EQ system where people had to pay a group in order to get special equipment. I don't think you should be able to use credits/cash to add things to the game that didn't exist already. You're going to depress the market for curiosities/artwork if you do this, since it'll be something that most players can access.

I think once they do this, they are assigning a monitary conversion to in-game credits. Once this happens, all sort of legal problems will occur.
- You banned me, I had 100,000,000 million credits, that transalates to $100 or 15 tee-shirts, expect to hear from my lawyer.
- I am cancelling my account, please convert my items and property to credits and send me a check for this amount.
Might be silly but may have an actual basis for legal action.

More lofty ingame goals would be a better money sink. There is a shortage of large scale projects for the rich to engage in. Currently, funding a city is the only large scale project. What if you could build a Corellian corvette but it would take 100 million units of resource to build? Or perhaps you could have a massive land based military fortress. These would be excellent money sinks
