Droping a "0" would make prices look better.

I mean, the line luke said "10,000 credits?!?!11 I can buy my own ship for that!" comes to mind. I miss getting mission that payed 50c. I wish they had never increased mission payouts.

this is not communism were everyone is equal, this game is a highly capitalistic democracy wherein we have the have and have nots.

True, but with a couple of caveats:

1. Everyone wasn't equal under communism.

2.Yes, SWG's free-market economyallows "haves" and "have-nots." Butthat economic organization also allowsany have-not who works long enough and hardenoughto become a have.

you might aswell just read capitolism for kids.

I would suggest Henry Hazlitt's Economics in One Lesson. Very readable, and a great introduction to why free-market economics, while not perfect (and what system created by humans ever could be perfect?), still works better than other systems to satisfy our individual and social needs.

For more on capitalism vs. "central planning" economies, you still can't do better than Friedrich Hayek's classicThe Road to Serfdom. And for the truly hardcore, Human Action by Ludwig von Mises is indispensable.

I wonder what books the designers of SWG's economic systems read...?

you are assuming that they will work for it. If you play this game long enough, you should not have a problem with money. unless you pvp 100%,flit at the cantina all day, and not out there working for loot or cash. most people who complain about not having money don't want to work for it. They rather SOE do something about it. Nerf nerf nerf, bring the prices down. Well we got the CU already, because people don't want to work to get their gear and skills better.

there are the "haves" "have nots" "never will be" and "nerf because i don't want to work for it"

My feelings exactly:

i'm in the starport doing my evil. greedy, capatalist, job /sarcasm off; i can't believe my eye. yes there in the starport a profesonal "panhandler" (don't get me wrong i will help who i can when i can, when some one "needs" help)

I say stop beggiong, andget a job like the rest of us.

he says "i got a job" panhandling.

i say good luck with that...lol

/addignore;

Raph Kosters was a visionary and swg was an innovation far, far beond your simple "bag-0-numbers" he was no more trying to make, what "you" think a mmorg should be then georgeLucas was trying to make starwars, the movie every one thought it should be. the innovative design of starwars galaxies was the closes thing to virtual reality anyone will ever see in a game. the social, and economic structure, was the backbone of the whole virtual "galaxy".

swg "was" one big "group" with cultures and subcultures interacting in the "greatest saga of all time"; not some generic shooter.

who ever you wanted to be, what ever your style of play, you had to interact with the "non-combat role player" there was something for every one, every play style.

is it wrong to you (it seams more realistic to me) that you would have to "learn" a skill before you went charging in to battle, or "earn" a living to sulpy your needs,or that some people wher perfectly content to play in the background, keeping the wheels of war greased. ie crafters, merchants, entertainers, doctors ect...

t seems to me that all these CU-lovers think anyone who "learns and earns" thier skills, or credits, and can whip the snot out of them, is an uber "leet dude".

all any one asked for was "balance" we all agree that certain things needed to be nerfed; i.e. med buffs, armour, weapons and dots.

but no one asked for a new game! i don't know about you but i like the "freedom to choose" and this simplified, fantastic, game of numers, leave little choice. and if you think throwing a fantasy game engine, on top of an established sifi game is well thought out; you should really think again

I don't think this idea would work at all, because people would still sell rare items for the same price and it would just be more expensive to the purchaser

Ok I have been away for awhile and let me say the state of the money supply is way out of hand.

I believe there is a way two settle this issue. Stocks can actually have reverse splits (usually bad for the company). Now take this idea into the game. Each server may have a different split. For instance I'm on lowca with my 100 million credits (maybe in my next life time) and they introduce a 10 for 1 reverse split. So now I have 10 million credits.

Now your favorite weapon that sell for a cool millon goes for 100k. etc.

This calms down inflation and decreases the amount of credits on the server. I would also hope this may help the servers some as well.

Any thoughts on this?

Worst idea ever. Some people have different goals in game, some want to be Jedi, some want to be Jedi killers, I want to be the best business man there is and earn the same amount as Billy Boy Gates.

It makes me laugh when people come out with what you have. I notice you haven't replied since and I bet you still have that 100million. If your so concerned that you have to much money, then go and give 1 million to each new person you see. Thats 100 new players you could make happy, or 90 new players you could make happy if you decide to keep 10 million for yourself. Its like in the UK, we currently have an advert on TV saying "make poverty history". Yes its a really good course, but I find it really ironic that the people that appear on the advert, clicking their fingers and all, arethe big Hollywood stars who are really rich and have millions, if they all gave a few million, I'm sure it would help make poverty history. I'd like to know how much they've given and if they actually got paid for that advert.
