Thread: The Great Depression, SWG Style
Pearls increased in price due to premiums and flawless not dropping any more. but 1.3 mill for a poor? you were ripped off by some who knows you cant see the quailty before you buy it.
Armour has went up in price because the resource requirements are now crazy for armours, especially in hides and named resources, all this was done in the CU.
Chef, BE, Weapons, Clothes I have to admit on Chimera the hasnt been any changes to the prices of these, only the loots stuff goes for high prices.

Don't believe my headline? Well you should cause we're headed for it. I remember back in the days of 30k missions and solo grinding that I could buy a full set of the best grind comp on Ahazi for 200k. My weapons cost me 10k - 50k, and Jedi bought crystals from you for 250k - 500k no matter the quality, and you were happy to receive it. Now all I ever see are outrageous prices being charged but what I consider nOObs. Now they are not all nOObs in the time sense but apparently they are in the business sense. What really upset me was purchasing a Crystal from a vendor for 1.3mill only to find it was a Poor. That is as low a quality as they get and people are charging 1 mill or more for them? I seem to remember times where people charged reasonable prices for lower quality products.. The oddest thing I guess is that the devs have taken or source of money and when prices should have gone down after almost 2 years of inflation, they didn't, they skyrocketed.. Now everything costs outrageous amounts, weapons, armor, chef foods, tailored goods and BE items. And in my opinion what is majorly contributing to this problem is the Devs new loot system that was supposed to be designed to avoid exactly this problem. I guess for now I am on buying strike, I will buy only from my guildies and from nowhere else until something is done to fix this. Thankfully I am jedi and don't require much now, but to all of you who need the armor and the weapons, my sympathies.
I have said it before, and I will say it again: become a crafter. Go through what they went through to get there. If you have a problem with prices, then instead of complaining, you DO something about it. Become a crafter, get the pearls, sell them for cheap. Become a crafter, get the resources, and build them for cheap. Get your friends to do this too. Settle on everyplanet, and try and make a dent. Until you go through the process of crafting, and truly understand how much it costs to get there, and the TIME it takes, then you have no clue what stuff is worth.

This could actually all be part of SOE's plan to switch to a purely loot and NPC based economy ... they're breaking crafting worse with each patch, and do you think people are going to KEEP crafting? I just cancelled my alt, and I'm sure I'm not the only one ... and nowhere near the first.
LMAO!!!! They will not stop this from being a player based economy. They give out ships, and what happens, everyone complains, until they realize, hey, these ships decay, and then I no longer have this ship. I won't fly it anymore, but it will sit here in my datapad. I will use this shipwright built ship instead. If they take away our player economy, then they would lose the reason most people play for. Trust me, they will NOT take away crafting. Bugs are on accident, and I have my own problems with how they push out publishes they know to be broken, but thats a whole other issue. They will not have a npc based economy.

This may be part of the problem right here... Since there are so many Jedi running around, less people are needing armor and weapons. This is causing some not-so-economically minded individuals (which is the majorty of the population on most servers) to raise their prices in order to keep the income level they think they "should" have.I vote Vader and Leia fly around in their shuttles again, but this time teach instead of encouraging their faction, educate about supply and demand
People raised prices due to a lower amount of competition and an increased and changed resource requirements. There are a great number of Jedi running around, but seriously compared to the rest of the population, they're still a minority.

There is no Great Depression. The economy is not even close to tanking. There's no unusual speculation. Millions of people are not going out of work. There's no worldwide reduction in the ability to feed oneself. We're in the MIDDLE of a war, rather than the aftermath of one.
Why do you people keep harkening back to the sologroup? People were making JUST AS MUCH money before the sologroup.
Higher prices do not mean inflation. Not every price has increased, meaning that the relative value of the credit has not gone down.

Actually I think their plan is create a more subsistence based economy with resources turning over much more often in the economic cycle with reduced stockpiles of resources.
Really, wecan't even talk about swg economy in a realistic sense at all. harvestors and houses are fixed where in fact their costs to operate should decrease or increase in time. SWG economy doesn't have technological value. There are no technological miracles until they make an expansion or update.
Then there are people who are so rich they don't care if they sell their stuff at a really high price, since they can wait around for the income. But, honeslty, almost all the merchants on tarq are empty. Everything is special order now. Again with a but. But, really, everyone is still pretty rich.
